Ein Drama an Bord ist das Internet.

First of all: I was glad that you cannot use VPN on board so I had no chance to access my company's network.



Zunächst einmal bin ich froh, dass ich kein VPN an Bord nutzen kann und daher auch nicht ins Firmennetz muss.

Als Nutzer vom iPhone und iPad finde ich die iLounge schon mal generell schick.

Nur muss man höllisch aufpassen, weil man doch gerne an der Nase rumgeführt wird.

Es wird nicht so ganz offen damit umgegangen, dass manche Angebote auch Ladenhüter vergangener Generationen ist.

Deswegen unbedingt Preis UND Modell vergleichen.

Many things were made more complicated. So you need to fill out your coupon and drop into the box to get your Captain's Club discount.



Vieles wird unnötig kompliziert gemacht. So muss man noch ausgefüllte Coupons einwerfen, wenn man seinen Captain's Club-Rabatt in Anspruch nehmen will.

Überhaupt muss man mal zunächst in der iLounge selbst vorbei kommen, um überhaupt das Internet nutzen zu können. Es wird zwar erklärt, wie es gehen soll, aber das Wort "idiotensicher" ist etwas anderes und ich halte mich nicht für sehr blöd, um das auch umsetzen zu können. Man muss sogar seine Karte mitführen, weil sonst keine Nutzung möglich ist.



You must see the iLounge to get any access to the internet. It was explained how it should work but "idiot-proof" was something different and I do not think that I am most stupid to act according. You need to have your key card with you because otherwise you cannot use it.

What I hated very much: you cannot handle everything yourself even you wanted to use your own device by WiFi and so you had to show up during the opening hours of the iLounge-Manager. A lady appeared in the iLounge and told me that I had to explain her immediately how get into the internet with her A&T-contract as she booked with AT&T an internet package for the ship. I explained that I am only guest by myself and tried my best to get registered for an account and offered her that I could help her if I was able to understand it. She was offended by my words.



Was mich jedoch nervt ist, dass du nicht alles selbst machen kannst, wenn du deine eigenen Geräte mit WLAN nutzen möchtest, sondern hier während der Sprechzeiten des iLounge-Managers erscheinen muss. Eine Dame erscheint hier in der iLounge und sagt mir, dass ich ihr sofort erklären muss, wie sie mit ihrem AT&T-Vertrag hier ins Internet kommt, weil sie zu Hause bei AT&T ein Internet-Package für das Schiff gebucht habe. Ich erkläre ihr, dass ich selbst nur Passagier bin und selbst verzweifelt versuche, einen Account anzulegen und biete ihr an, dass ihr helfe, wenn ich es selbst verstanden hätte. Darauf hin ist sie beleidigt.

Man muss sich übrigens in die Liste eintragen, wenn man Hilfe will...

Totally stupid: you cannot select a more complicated link to log out. With all others it's https://1.1.1.1 or https://logout.com - but who would be able to remember this long order of characters?



Vollkommen blöd: noch komplizierter kann man wohl kaum einen Link benennen, um sich auszuloggen. Bei allen anderen heißt er https://1.1.1.1 oder https://logout.com - aber wer merkt sich schon diese Zeichenkette?

Wie bereits oben beschrieben: VPN ist nicht möglich. Aber Skype auch nicht.



Like described above already: VPN is not possible. But Skype either.

Irgendwann schaffe ich es doch. Und mir wird der Minuten Preis angezeigt.

Obwohl man zuvor die Karte eingelesen, musst man nochmals seine Kabinenummer bestätigen.

Mit meinem iPad hatte ich irgendwann den Trick raus.

Dachte ich... aber lange bloß ein weißes Fenster... aber auch nur, weil man in den Anweisungen vergessen hat zu erwähnen, dass man automatische Anmeldung besser abschalten sollte.

Sonst braucht man schon ein wenig länger, um sich wieder anzumelden.

Und selbst wenn man es sich einfach macht und in die iLounge geht... weiß...

und ein hübscher Apfel... und weiß...

And logout did not work properly at all the time and the counter still counted. A disconnection from the WiFi-network was not successful at all.



Und Logout klappt auch nicht immer und die Uhr läuft weiter. Eine Trennung vom WLAN-Netzwerk nützt auch nichts.

And finally your are logged out and you cannot see how much time credit you used for this session: Transparency was something different.



Und irgendwann ist man draußen und man sieht nicht, wie viel man verbraucht hat. Transparenz ist etwas anderes.

Bei Princess und vielen anderen mache ich alles online mit meinem Gerät von meiner Kabine aus und brauche keine Bordkarte, keinen Besuch im Internet-Center, keinen Coupon ausfüllen und vor allem keine Hilfestellung vom iLounge-Manager bei der Einrichtung des Kontos. Und wenn man ihn darauf anspricht, wie einfach es bei anderen ist, wird man darauf verwiesen, dass es hier eben so ist, wie es ist und man ja kein Internet nutzen muss. Nur weil ein "i" im iLounge-Manager auf seinem T-Shirt steht, hat er wohl kaum das gleiche Image, das mein iPhone und mein iPad ausstrahlen. Ich finde es immer gut, dass es Leute gibt, die zu einem schlechten System stehen und es verteidigen. Verbesserungen sind ja nicht immer von Interesse, wenn man dadurch weniger Umsatz macht. Bei Princess werde ich automatisch als Platinum-Kunde erkannt und bekomme sofort den Plan, den ich kostenlos nutzen darf angezeigt. Und wenn ich direkt einen Plan dazukaufe, bekomme ich noch einen Sonderpreis. Und wie gesagt: ganz automatisch von meiner Kabine mit meinen Geräten, wann ich will. Besser geht es nicht. Und an den Besten sollte man sich messen und nicht an den Schlechtesten.



With Princess and many others you can do online everything with your own device from your own cabin without using the cruise card, without seeing the internet-center, without filling out a coupon and especially without the personal assistance of the iLounge-Manager when you set up your account. Only because of the "i" on his i-Lounge-Manager-T-Shirt he did not have the same brand image like my iPhone or iPad. I always like people who love their old-fashioned system and protect them. No need to improve anything if the revenue is missing then. With Princess I will be automatically identified as high-tier-guest. So I could book immeditely my free plan and add a discounted plan. And as said before: automatically with my device at the time of my convenience. Nothing worked better. And you should always find orientation to the best best and not to the worst.
