Auf zum Mittagessen: eines ist unklar: ist das ein Croissant oder ein Panini?



We went for lunch: something was not clear: was this a Croissant or a Panini?

We had again the nice multi-grain bread nobody was willing to get it for me.



Es gibt wieder das leckere Graubrot, das keiner bereit ist, mir morgens zum Frühstück zu beschaffen.

Und es gibt nicht mehr Brot...



And we did not get anymore bread...

Somehow it did not look very appetizing... like three doo-doos within diarrhea...



Irgendwie sieht es nicht besonders appetitlich aus... Wie drei Hundehaufen im Durchfall...

Der Salat wiederum war sehr lecker.



But the salad looked very appetizing.

At least I got here a fresh knife.



Wenigstens hier bekomme ich mal ein frisches Messer.

That looked very yummy...

... but the meat was somehow marinated in a very strange way - like you normally only do it if the meat starts to run to seed. I use meat marinate to emphasize the flavour of the meat. With may butcher's BBQ corner in supermarkets you see how they do this with meat which you cannot sell anymore. So you start to marinate it that you cannot see anymore how it looked and tasted like originally. And the meat tasted exactly that way...



... aber das Fleisch war so merkwürdig mariniert, wie man es nur macht, wenn das Fleisch bereits anfängt zu vergammeln. Fleischmarinade nutze ich, um den Geschmack des Fleisches zu unterstreichen. Bei vielen "Grilltheken" in Supermärkten, wird ja oft das Fleisch verwendet, dass man nicht mehr so verkaufen kann und so legt man es ein, damit man nicht sieht, wie es jetzt aussieht und auch nicht mehr schmeckt, wie es aussieht. Und so schmeckte das Fleisch auch...

Und die Shrimps: wieder mal so mehlig nach Tiefkühlware.



And you could feel again that the shrimps tasted like floury frozen items.

It means a lot  if I only need the noodles and did not touch any of the meat and shrimps. No dessert. Now were interested to order but 1. you had to order the desserts with the other courses and 2. we wanted first see what we eat and preferred to walk somewhere else.



Und wenn ich nur die Nudeln aufesse, und Fleisch und Shrimps liegen lasse, dann will es viel heißen. Einen Nachtisch gab es nicht. Wir hätten jetzt gerne einen bestellt, aber 1. muss man mittags den Nachtisch schon direkt mit bestellen und 2. wollten wir jetzt sehen, was wir essen und gehen lieber wo anders hin.

Oben wartet Dexter in seinem Osterhasenkostüm auf uns...



Upstairs Dexter was waiting for us with his Easter Bunny costume...

It was just too cold for him. It was quite breezy at the access to Oceanview Café.



Ihm ist es einfach zu kalt. Es zieht hier am Eingang zum Oceanview Café ganz schön.

Noch immer hat er mich nicht angesungen... Wieviel Trinkgeld würde er jetzt für ein "The Way you looked tonight" bekommen...



He has not still sing for me... If he would know how much tip he would get for a "The Way you looked tonight"...

The only place you could experience that it was Easter Holiday. Well we had also Muslims and Jews an Bord. Maybe the Jews did not want to celebrate very much that day they executed Jesus Christ. Or maybe we need to celebrate it according to the Greek Orthodox calender due to the Greek origin of Chandris (The Greek Orthodox Easter Holidays could be upto five weeks later than the Catholic Easter Holidays). No idea. But I could experience real Easter feelings. So sad that they did not offer a Easter Brunch. This would be a great chance to get many points. Here I discovered some Nashi-pears from Japan.



Der einzige Ort, an dem man merkt, dass Ostern ist. Nun gut: wir haben ja auch Muslime und Juden an Bord. Vielleicht wollen die Juden ja nicht so intensiv den Tag feiern, als sie Jesus Christus hingerichtet haben. Oder aufgrund der griechischen Herkunft von Chandris müssen wir den griechisch-orthodoxen Kalender berücksichtigen (Das griechisch-orthodoxe Ostern liegt bis zu fünf Wochen später als das katholische Ostern). Keine Ahnung. So richtig Osterstimmung kommt trotzdem keine auf. Schade, dass man keinen Osterbrunch veranstaltet hat. Damit hätten sie richtig schön punkten können. Hier oben entdecke ich Nashi-Birnen aus Japan.

In Deutschland wäre der Höhepunkt ein festliches Ostermenü - hier an Bord nehme ich einen Burger ohne Brötchen und einen Hot Dog.

But not really fresh from the grill but kept warm only.



Leider nicht so frisch vom Grill, sondern warmgehalten.

Und Bruno testet den Osterkuchen. Es bleibt bei einem Bissen. Er wurde von der amerikanischen Zuckerindustrie, Butterindustrie und Pharmaindustrie (Sparte Diabetiker-Produkte) finanziell unterstützt.



Bruno had the Easter Cake. He limited his meal to one single bite. It was sponsored by the American Sugar-Industry, Butter-Industry and Pharma-Industry (Section Diabetes-Products).

Some you had always the impression that they never have had enough crew members to keep the ship clean.



Haben die eigentlich zu wenig Personal an Bord, um das Schiff richtig sauber zu halten?

Man hat immer den Eindruck, dass immer Geld da ist, um den Bau des 4. Schiffs der Oasis-Klasse zu finanzieren, aber nicht mehr genügend Geld reinsteckt, um auch die laufenden Schiffe der Flotte in einem guten Zustand zu halten. Dass die nicht an einem Seetag draußen rumturnen können, um die Fenster zu putzen ist klar. Nur hatten wir zuvor drei Tage an Land. Das sieht schon älter aus.



You have always the feeling that they have money to finance the new build of the 4th ship of the Oasis-Class but ran out of money to maintain the current fleet in a good condition. Eine Kleinigkeit hat man bei den Instruktionen vergessen, die den Einstieg verbessert: "Automatisch anmelden" abschalten. Hat mir damals Jacques auf der ZAANDAM beigebracht.

16.00 Uhr gehe ich zur Passausgabe.

Als wir die Pässe abgegeben haben, hieß es, dass ich nicht alle Quittungen haben kann und jede Kabine bekam sie einzeln. Nun muss ich wieder alle einsammeln. Betonung auf ALLE.



When we gave them the passports they told me that I could have all repeipts but each of us need to have his own receipt. Now I should collect them all again. One more time ALL.

I went to the passport release in the conference room. No body checked there if you really came within the time slot.



Ich gehe zur Passausgabe im Konferenzraum. Dort wird allerdings niemand kontrolliert, ob man wirklich im Zeitfenster kommt.

Sofort bekomme ich fast alle Reisepässe. Nur die Reisepässe von meinen Eltern fehlen. Weil sie sie nicht finden, behaupten einfach, dass diese schon abgeholt wurden. Ich zeige, dass ich ALLE Quittungen vorgelegt habe und sie demnach wohl ihre Pässe bereits ohne Quittung ausgegeben haben müssen - an irgendjemanden - keinesfalls meine Eltern, die mir gerade erst ihre Quittung gegeben haben. Ich gebe denen einen Tipp, dass meine Eltern Taiwan-Pässe haben. Daraufhin rennt sie zu dem Fach für Taiwan-Pässe und macht mir zum Vorwurf, dass ich nicht gleich gesagt hätte, dass meine Eltern Hongkong-Pässe hätten. Ich sage nochmals, dass meine Eltern Taiwan-Pässe haben. Sie zeigt mir darauf hin, die Vorderseite der Taiwan-Pässe und meint wieder energisch in einem rechthaberischen Ton: Hongkong-Pässe. Ich habe keine Lust mehr mit jemandem ausdiskutieren, der nicht weiß, dass Republic of China für Taiwan steht und Special Administrative Region für Hongkong. Ich freue mich immer wieder über Crew-Mitglieder, die arrogant und rechthaberisch sind und sich nicht scheuen, zu lügen oder den Gast als unwissend dastehen zu lassen. Zum Glück war ich nie auf ihre Hilfe angewiesen, weil mein Englisch so gut ist, dass ich ihre Hilfe niemals in Anspruch nehmen muss. Nein Danke!



Immediately I got all passports but the passports of my parents were missing. Because they could not find them they just argued that they were already collected. I showed that I presented ALL receipts so they must released the passport - to any body - but for sure not to my parents as they just gave me their receipt. I gave her the advise that my parents have Taiwan Passports. So she walked to a box with Taiwan-Passports and in a very aggresive sound she accused that I did not tell her immediately that my parents have Hong Kong-Passports. I said again that my parents have Taiwan-Passports. She pointed with her fingers of the front cover of the Taiwan-Passports and said again in an agressive sound: Hong Kong-Passports. I did not like to discuss with someone who absolutely had no knowledge that Republic of China stands for Taiwan and Special Administrative Region for Hong Kong. I love again such crew members who act arrogant and dogmatic and are not afraid to lie or to give the guest the feeling that they are stupid. I was lucky that we never need her assistance since my English is good enough. No thanks!

I the cabin I tried to fill out the form but our marble was full of gabs that you could write well. They had no blotting pad.



In der Kabine versuche die Formulare auszufüllen, aber unser Marmor ist bereits so voller Löcher, dass man darauf nichts mehr schreiben kann. Eine Schreibunterlage gibt es nicht.

Und sie hatten wieder keine Lust den langen Schiffsnamen einzustempeln.

The next formal night. They had the shrimps back which I did not eat up for lunch and again a cloth of meat. And finally a clear broth which did not make it hot to the table.



Der nächste formelle Abend. Es gibt die Shrimps, die ich mittags nicht aufgegessen hatte und mal wieder Fleischlappen. Und endlich mal eine klare Brühe, die es wieder nicht heiß bis zum Platz schafft.

Wenn ich einen Lautsprecher fotografiere, dann war es meistens zu laut oder es gab eine interessante Ansage.

When Azem learned that Christine was sick in her cabin he did some handicraft for her. Friederike should take this to the cabin for Christine. I appreciated very much what he did.



Als Azem erfährt, dass Christine in der Kabine und krank ist, bastelt er noch etwas für sie. Das darf Friederike für Christine mit in die Kabine nehmen. So etwas finde ich dann absolut gut.
