Tag/Day 01 auf der/on CELEBRITY INFINITY in Piraeus, Greece

Frühstück im Hotel. Heute nehme ich ein wenig Gebäck und Olivenöl und anschließend probiere ich die süßen Sachen: auch die Griechen müssten schon längst an Diabetes ausgestorben sein. Z. T. doch sehr süß - aber LECKER!!!



Breakfast in the hotel. Today, I'll have a little pastry and olive oil, and then I'll try the sweet things: the Greeks should have died out from diabetes long ago, too. It's very sweet at times—but DELICIOUS!!!



Bevor wir zur Einschiffung fahren, geht es zunächst noch zum Bildermachen in den Hafen.



Before we embark, we first go to the harbor to take pictures.

In the harbor, we discover the old facilities built in Germany. I asked our taxi driver when “The Children from Piraeus” (Never on Sunday) was playing from the port tower. He informed me that it is probably not being played at the moment because there is a defect. Without further ado, I played it from my iPhone. The taxi driver was thrilled. Later, as we drive out, we experience a beautiful set sail.



Im Hafen entdecken wir die alten Anlagen, die in Deutschland gebaut wurden. Ich frage unseren Taxifahrer, wann eigentlich "Die Kinder aus Piräus" vom Turm im Hafen gespielt wird. Er informiert mich, dass wohl im Moment es gar nicht gespielt wird, weil es einen Defekt gibt. Ich spiele kurzerhand es von meinem iPhone ab. Der Taxifahrer ist begeistert. Später als wir rausfahren, erleben wir eine schöne Ausfahrt.





Wir wollten ja eigentlich nach Israel und Ägypten. Unser Preis wurde nach Umroutung nicht neu berechnet. Wir wollen immer selbst die Kabine auswählen, wir wollen gerne rückzahlbare Anzahlungen, und über die inkludierten Servicegelder, Getränke und Internet freun wir uns. Hätten wir direkt bei Celebrity gebucht, hätte der Preis zwischen 5500 und 4900 USD betragen. Wir haben bei Dorothy von Cruise Brothers für unsere Reise 2700 USD inkl. 800 USD Bordguthaben bekommen. Das hohe Bordguthaben kam durch die Anzahlung auf der letzten Kreuzfahrt, die Umroutung, Dorothy's Promo. Keine nachfolgendes Promo (Black Friday, Weihnachten, Ostern, Unabhängigkeitstag usw. usw.) hat den Preis unterboten. Die Last-Minute-Preise haben sich für uns daher nicht gelohnt, vor allem, weil ich ja partout eine Bugkabine haben wollte. Das Mindestgebot für eine Balkonkabine lag daher bei uns sehr hoch: 600 USD/Person. Daher haben wir auf Gebot verzichtet.



We wanted to go to Israel and Egypt. Our price should have been recalculated after rerouting. We always want to choose the cabin ourselves, we want refundable deposits, and we are happy about the included service money, drinks, and internet. If we had booked directly with Celebrity, the price would have been between 5500 USD and 4900 USD. We got 2700 USD from Dorothy from Cruise Brothers for our trip, including an 800 USD onboard credit. The high onboard credit came from the deposit on the last cruise, the rerouting, Dorothy's Promo. No subsequent promo (Black Friday, Christmas, Easter, Independence Day, etc.) has beaten the price. The last-minute prices weren't worth it for us, mainly because I wanted a bow cabin. Therefore, the minimum bid for a balcony cabin was very high for us: 600 USD/person. Consequently, we have waived the bid.

I don't like such sensational headlines: There was a discussion in the German cruise forum kreuzfahrten-treff.de, "Celebrity - still as good as before or no longer worth the money?" Only now can I determine whether it is worth MY money for MY trip. All the other ships, voyages, etc., are just as good or bad. Whatever prompted the original poster to post, I wasn't there. My last trip on CELEBRITY REFLECTION 2022 was excellent. Before that, I hadn't traveled with them for eight years because I was very annoyed on CELEBRITY MILLENNIUM 2014. But in the end, the good memories dominate. In the last few years, we've booked with them three times and been canceled by them three times, but they've treated us well. Now, there are two strategies: you read it and go on board and wait for it to happen to you, or you don't read it and continue to look forward to your journey on CELEBRITY INFINITY. I chose the second one. At the end of the trip, there were over 100 posts. After the end of the journey, I determined for myself that it was one of the best price-performance ratios I could experience in 119 cruises. They have put me in such a positive mood that I am considering further trips with Celebrity. But first, I need the new 2026 program and the prices. Then I decide.



Ich mag so reißerische Überschriften nicht: Im Kreuzfahrten-Treff.de gab es eine Diskussion "Celebrity - noch so gut wie früher oder das Geld nicht mehr Wert?". Nun ob es MEIN Geld MEINE Reise Wert ist, kann nur ich bestimmen. Ob alle anderen Schiffe, Reisen usw. genauso gut oder schlecht sind, kann ich nicht sagen. Was immer den ursprünglichen Poster zu dem Beitrag veranlasst hat: ich war nicht dabei. Meine letzte Reise auf der CELEBRITY REFLECTION 2022 war schön. Davor war ich acht Jahre mit denen nicht unterwegs, weil ich auf der CELEBRITY MILLENNIUM 2014 sehr über sie geärgert habe. Aber am Schluss dominieren die schönen Erinnerungen. In den letzten Jahren waren wir drei Mal mit denen gebucht, und drei Mal von denen abgesagt, aber sie haben uns gut behandelt. Jetzt gibt es zwei Strategien: man liest es und geht an Bord und wartet darauf, dass es einem auch passiert, oder man liest es nicht und freut sich weiter auf seine Reise auf der CELEBRITY INFINITY. Ich habe mich für zweiteres entschieden. Am Ende der Reise waren es über 100 Beiträge. Nach Ende der Reise, habe ich für mich feststellen können: Es war einer der besten Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnisse, die ich in 119 Kreuzfahrten erleben durfte. Sie haben mich so positiv gestimmt, dass ich durchaus weitere Fahrten mit Celebrity in Erwägung ziehe. Aber zunächst brauche ich das neue Programm 2026 und die Preise. Dann entscheide ich.

Als ich meinen Internetzugang aufwerten wollte, wurde mir der XPass angeboten. Die Angebote fand ich ausgesprochen interessant zu einem interessanten Preis. Nach dem ich ihn gekauft habe, gab es den dann nicht mehr im Angebot. Ein entsprechender Hinweis fand sich dann auch auf den Einschiffungsunterlagen. Später gab es dann einen Premium Express. Der war sehr viel teurer und bot nur drei Vorteile mehr: Reservierte Plätze an allen Abenden im Theater, Express-Ausschiffung, anscheinend muss ich auch keine Servicegelder beim Kabinenservice bezahlen. Ich habe keine Ahnung, was mich da geritten hat: ich werde halt älter und blöder - ich habe den XPass storniert und den Premium Express bestellt. Dafür hätte mir in den A... beißen können. Allerdings der Key ist auf dem Boarding Pass verschwunden und auf Nachfrage bei Celebrity, sollte ich denen vertrauen, dass alles gut geht. Da haben sie den richtigen erwischt, um so etwas zu sagen... ich sehe mich schon in Piräus: viel Geld für diesen Service bezahlt und keiner weiß Bescheid.



When I wanted to upgrade my internet access, I was offered the XPass. I found the offers extremely interesting at an exciting price. After I bought it, it was no longer on sale. It was much more expensive and only offered three more advantages: reserved seats in the theater every evening, express disembarkation. I don't have to pay any service fees for cabin service. I have no idea what happened to me: I'm just getting older and stupider - I canceled the XPass and ordered the Premium Express. That could have bitten me in the ass. However, the key had disappeared from the boarding pass, and when I asked Celebrity, I should have trusted them that everything would go well. They got the right person to say something like that... I can already see myself in Piraeus: I paid a lot for this service, and no one knows.



Ich hatte Unrecht: Wir wurden von einem Terminalmitarbeiter und einem Kofferträger am Taxi empfangen. Ich sagte, dass ich diesen Premium Express gebucht habe. Der Mitarbeiter guckte auf seine Liste und sagte, dass er sich um alles kümmere. Unsere Koffer bekamen zusätzlich einen Priority Anhänger und wir haben sie nicht mehr gesehen. Wir wurden dann in einen speziellen Bereich geführt. Dort standen Getränke und Schnittchen für uns bereit. Wir mussten an keinen Schalter. Die Mitarbeiter kamen zu uns und haben uns während wir sitzen erfasst. Als dann die Sicherheitskontrolle geöffnet wurde, begleitete uns eine Mitarbeiterin zur Sicherheitskontrolle. Danach durften wir an Bord. Wir hatten eigentlich das Zeitfenster 11:30 Uhr bis 12:00 Uhr, aber wir waren bereits um 11:00 Uhr an Bord.



I was wrong: a terminal employee and a porter met us at the taxi. I said that I booked this Premium Express. The employee looked at his list and said he would handle everything. Our suitcases also received a priority tag, and we didn't see them again. We were then led to a particular area. Drinks and sandwiches were available for us there. We didn't have to go to any counters. The employees came to us and recorded us while we were sitting. When the security check opened, an employee accompanied us to the security check. Afterwards, we were allowed on board. We had a time slot of 11:30 hrs to 12:00 hrs, but we were already on board at 11:00 hrs.

It worked great. We got our luggage relatively early. I looked at the cabin service menu, and it's minimal. But we are happy about three invitations to the heliport because of the Premium Express service we booked. However, the first appointment was canceled due to the weather.



Es hat super geklappt. Wir haben relativ früh unser Gepäck. Ich gucke mir die Speisekarte für den Kabinenservice an: das ist sehr begrenzt. Aber wir freuen uns über drei Einladungen auf den Heliport, aufgrund des Premium Express-Services, den wir gebucht haben. Allerdings fiel direkt der erste Termin witterungsbedingt aus.

Ich erinnere mich an MEIN SCHIFF 2 2012: dort hatten wir unser Gepäck schnell einstellen wollen und wurden dafür als Gäste "gerügt". Aber hier hängt ein Schild: kommen Sie rein, legen Sie alles ab, nehmen Sie Ihre Karten und gucken Sie sich auf dem Schiff um. Besser geht es nicht.



I remember MEIN SCHIFF 2 2012: we wanted to put our luggage there quickly and were "reprimanded" for it as guests. But there is a sign here: come in, put everything down, take your cards, and look around the ship. It doesn't get any better.

I like that, with the big round window in the front. I discovered that there is also a window sill in the front. The sun shines pure. It's nice and warm. I decide to make myself comfortable on the windowsill. At the last moment, I realized the window sill was made from a thin chipboard sheet. When I notice that it is grinding and giving way, I give up my plan. A pity! Well, then there is Mikis Theodorakis without sunbathing. It fits unpacking.



Das gefällt mir richtig gut, mit dem großen runden Fenster in der Front. Ich entdecke, dass vorne auch eine Art Fensterbank da. Die Sonne scheint rein. Sie ist schön warm. Ich beschließe, dass ich es mir ein wenig auf der Fensterbank gemütlich mache. Im letzten Moment stelle ich fest, dass die Fensterbank aus einer dünnen Spanholzplatte hergestellt wurde. Als ich merke, dass sie knirscht und nachgibt, gebe ich meinen Plan auf. Schade! Na gut, dann gibt es halt Mikis Theodorakis ohne Sonnenbad. Es passt zum Auspacken.







There's something free from the jeweler Effy. To be safe, I'll ask before it's charged to me. We like the cut and furnishings of the cabin. Enough storage space and drawers. 2 Euro protective sockets and 2 US sockets: We have four plus USB ports by adding two adapters. We have expanded the number of large magnets and can now hang bags, hats, and jackets on the wall. And we use it at night to redirect the air from the air conditioning with a tarp. This means the air no longer comes from above onto our faces but is diverted along the wall towards the bathroom and cabin door. There is still chocolate every evening at the turn-down service, and the container for my hypodermic needles also comes.



Es gibt etwas kostenlos von dem Juwelier Effy. Sicherheitshalber frage ich nach, bevor es auf meine Rechnung kommt. Der Schnitt und die Ausstattung der Kabine sagt uns sehr zu. Genügend Stauraum und Schubladen. 2 Euro-Schutzsteckdosen und 2 US-Steckdosen: durch die Ergänzung von zwei Adaptern haben wir daher vier plus USB-Ports. Wir haben die Anzahl der großen Magnete erweitert und können so Taschen, Mützen, Jacken an die Wand hängen. Und wir nutzen Sie nachts um mit einer Plane die Luft der Klimaanlage umzuleiten. So kommt die Luft nicht mehr von oben auf unser Gesicht, sondern wird an der Wand Richtung Bad und Kabinentür umgeleitet. Beim Turn-Down-Service gibt es immer noch jeden Abend Schokolade und die Dose für meine Injektionsnadeln kommt auch.

Mit den Vorbestellungen hat es gut geklappt. Die werden zunächst mit dem Bordguthaben verrechnet. Man kann die Bestellungen stornieren und hat sofort das Geld wieder zurück auf dem Bordguthaben. Meine Coupons für die Wäschesäcke waren da. Meine Tickets für den Transfer in die Stadt (ich wollte es mal ausprobieren und ich hatte keine Lust vom Terminal B bis zur U-Bahn zu laufen und auf Bus 40 hatte ich auch keine Lust). Wir bekommen die Benachrichtigung, was uns alles als Captain's Club Select Mitglieder zusteht. Den Captain's Club Empfang haben wir jedoch komplett verpasst.



Things went well with the pre-orders. These are initially offset against the on-board credit. You can cancel the orders and return the money to your on-board balance immediately. My coupons for the laundry bags were there. My tickets for the transfer into the city (I wanted to try it out, and I didn't feel like walking from Terminal B to the subway or taking bus 40 either). We receive notification of what we are entitled to as Captain's Club Select members. However, we completely missed the Captain's Club reception.

Finally, there is a decent bathroom and shower gel, so there is no reason to ask the hotel general manager, like back on CELEBRITY MILLENNIUM 2014. But there is still a bar of soap instead of liquid soap for washing your hands. Even without a concierge or a spa, we can now get body lotion. Finally, there is plenty of space to accommodate everything.



Endlich mal ein anständiges Bad und es gibt immer noch Duschgel, also kein Grund, den Hoteldirektor zu fragen, wie damals auf der CELEBRITY MILLENNIUM 2014. Es gibt aber immer noch ein Stück Seife statt Flüssigseife zum Händewaschen. Aber auch ohne Concierge oder Spa bekommen wir jetzt Bodylotion. Und endlich mal reichlich Platz um alles unterzubringen.









An der Sammelstelle sind wir die ersten unserer Station. Das Filmchen konnten wir in der App sehen. Am späten Nachmittag hören wir dann noch das Notfall-Signal und das war es dann auch.



We are the first at our station at the muster station. We were able to see the film in the app. In the late afternoon, we heard the emergency signal, and that was it.









Our first stop always takes us to the café (unless we can get everything in paper cups). Our friends Sandy and Scott, who we know from the CELEBRITY EQUINOX 2010, were at CELEBRITY INFINITY shortly before us. They were very enthusiastic about one of the waitresses and sent me a photo so that I could say hello to them: Ruthiana. She was pleased when she saw the picture that Sandy and Scott had sent me. Scott and Sandy's friends are also our friends, so she gets some chocolate, too. I think the selection at Café al Bacio has become smaller than CELEBRITY REFLECTION 2022, but that's not a problem. I express my wishes, and this excellent crew will prepare everything for me the way I want. However, there is one little thing that I don't like: this Starbucks attitude that you have to run to the sugar column with your cup to get the sugar. What I liked: what doesn't fit is made to fit. The ship was significant: I explained that I wasn't used to being served with a porcelain cup at my seat, and then I had to fetch the sugar myself. Some waiters quickly noticed and brought the sugar with them - they were also tipped off accordingly. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT NOW: You mention it as early as possible on a trip that you would like things to be different, so DON'T GO HOME and tell everyone how bad it was on board. Later, it was like this: when we approached the Café al Bacio, there were two signs: large = Cappuccino Double-Shot for Bruno - small = Cortado lactose-free with sugar for me... It became our favorite "bar".



Unser erster Weg führt uns immer ins Café (sofern wir nicht alles in Pappbecher bekommen). Unsere Freunde Sandy und Scott, die wir von der CELEBRITY EQUINOX 2010 kennen, waren kurz vor uns auf der CELEBRITY INFINITY. Sie waren von einer Bedienung sehr begeistert und schicken mir ein Foto, damit ich sie freundlich von denen grüße: Ruthiana. Sie freut sich sehr, als sie das Foto sieht, dass mir Sandy und Scott geschickt haben. Freunde von Scott und Sandy sind auch unsere Freunde: also bekommt sie auch etwas Schokolade. Ich habe schon den Eindruck, dass die Auswahl im Café al Bacio gegenüber CELEBRITY REFLECTION 2022 kleiner geworden ist, aber das stellt kein Problem darich äußere einfach meine Wünsche und diese hervorragende Crew bereitet mir alles so zu, wie ich es mir wünsche. Es gibt allerdings eine Kleinigkeit, die ich nicht mag: dieses Starbucks-Gehabe, dass man mit seiner Tasse selbst zur Zuckersäule rennen soll, um sich den Zucker zu holen. Was mir gut gefallen hat: was nicht passt, wird passend gemacht. Darin war das Schiff wirklich klasse: ich habe erklärt, dass ich es nicht gewohnt bin, dass ich am Platz mit einer Porzellantasse bedient werde und dann aber mir selbst den Zucker holen soll. Einige Kellner hatten es schnell mitbekommen, und bringen den Zucker direkt mit - die wurden auch entsprechend getippt. DAS IST JETZT GANZ GANZ WICHTIG: Man spricht es möglichst früh auf einer Reise an, dass man es gerne anders hätte und FÄHRT NICHT HAUSE und erzählt jedem, wie schlimm es an Bord war. Später war es dann so: wenn wir schon uns dem Café al Bacio näherten, gab es zwei Zeichen: groß = Cappuccino Double-Shot für Bruno - klein = Cortado laktosefrei mit Zucker für mich... Es wurde unser Stamm"lokal".

Mit der App klappt es verhältnismäßig gut. Wenn man etwas storniert hat, taucht dennoch der stornierte Termin auf. Wenn man einen Tisch storniert hat und es poppen zwei Reservierungen auf, dann fragt man sich schon: welche ist aktuell. Auch mit den vorausgebuchten Premium-Internetzugängen passt es gut. Nur eines klappt nicht so: die Kommunikation zwischen Gästen an Bord: es gibt keine Pop-Up-Benachrichtigung. Man muss schon sehr gezielt gucken, ob jemand sich gemeldet hat. Äußerst hilfreich für die Tischreservierungen im Zuzahlrestaurants: die Speisekarten der gesamten Fahrt. So weiß man, wie man den Tilapia oder Puter im Hauptrestaurant umgeht.



It works well with the app. If you have canceled something, the canceled appointment will still appear. If you have canceled a table and two reservations pop up, then you ask yourself: which one is current? It also works well with pre-booked premium internet access. There is only one thing that needs to be fixed: communication between guests on board and no pop-up notification. You have to look very specifically to see whether someone has contacted you. Extremely helpful for table reservations in specialty restaurants: the menus for the entire trip. So you know how to avoid the tilapia or turkey in the main restaurant.

I am trying to remember the atrium on CELEBRITY MILLENNIUM 2014 as being as beautiful or elegant as it was. But that was ten years ago now. How often will a ship have changed in between? I like it here at CELEBRITY INFINITY today and now.



Irgendwie habe ich das Atrium auf der CELEBRITY MILLENNIUM 2014 nicht so schön und elegant in Erinnerung. Aber das ist jetzt auch zehn Jahre her. Wie oft wird sich zwischendurch ein Schiff verändert haben. Hier auf der CELEBRITY INFINITY gefällt es mir heute und hier sehr gut.

Für Bruno ist immer das Fitness-Studio wichtig. Ihm gefällt es, dass 24 Stunden offen ist und dass auch die Geräte für sein Rückentraining alle vorhanden sind. Der einzige, der sich wohl zwischendurch geschwert hat, war der Captain, weil manche die Hanteln auf den Boden fallen lassen. Darunter ist die Brücke und denen war es zu laut.



Bruno always needs the gym. He likes that it is open 24 hours a day and that all the equipment for his back training is available. The only one who seemed to have used weights in between was the captain because some people dropped the dumbbells on the floor. The bridge was underneath, and it was too loud for them.



Mit dem Wetter haben wir Glück: bis auf später einen Schauer auf Zypern, der zehn Minuten dauert, haben wir in der Regel immer sonniges Wetter.



We're lucky with the weather: apart from a shower later in Cyprus that lasts ten minutes, we usually always have sunny weather.

Sunny weather does not automatically mean that it is always lovely and warm. I can't even make myself comfortable in the solarium. Children are now allowed to be here between 17:00 hrs and 19:00 hrs. Otherwise, it is an adult zone.



Sonniges Wetter bedeutet nicht automatisch, dass es auch immer schön warm ist. Ich schaffe es nicht einmal mir es im Solarium gemütlich zu machen. Neu ist, dass auch Kinder zwischen 17:00 Uhr und 19:00 Uhr hier sein dürfen, ansonsten ist es Erwachsenenzone.



The reception committee gave us a warm welcome. The orientation in the elevators on days with shore leave is excellent. Otherwise, the ship is beautifully designed.



Das Empfangskomittee hat uns zuvor herzlich willkommen geheißen. Die Orientierung in den Fahrstühlen an Tagen mit Landgang ist sehr gut. Ansonsten ist das Schiff schon schön gestaltet.









Wir gehen mal gucken, was es heute Mittag am Büffet gibt. Das sieht auch alles sehr gut aus.

I booked a table at Le Petit Chef. This time, we were pointed out the two menu alternatives. So we are told clearly: on days 1 to 5, there is sea bass or short rib (something that I also saw on the regular menu in the main restaurant). Therefore, the decision is made on the menu for days 6 to 10, which I will present later when we are here. The regular Qsine card is no longer offered.



Ich habe ja einen Tisch in Le Petit Chef bestellt. Dieses Mal hat man uns auf die zwei Menüalterantiven hingewiesen. So sagt man uns klar: An den Tagen 1 bis 5 gibt es Wolfsbarsch oder Short-Rib (etwas, was es auch in der normalen Speisekarte im Hauptrestaurant gesehen habe). Daher fällt die Entscheidung auf das Menü an den Tagen 6 bis 10, das ich später noch vorstellen werde, wenn wir dann auch hier sind. Die reguläre Karte von Qsine wird gar nicht mehr angeboten.



We'll also take a look at Sushi on Five. Normally, there should be a 35.00 USD (2024) credit for our meal package, and we can order anything from it. But the waitress tells us to consider the limit irrelevant and to order to our heart's content. A unique alternative at lunchtime is Taj X - Indian lunch, which is not included in the meal package. Since I was somehow "drowned" with rose water in the desert at the Indian pop-up restaurant at Cunard, I don't always immediately shout "here" when Indian food is offered. Besides, the Limassol day doesn't suit us at all.



Wir sehen uns auch schon mal bei Sushi on Five um. Normalerweise sollte es für unser Essenspaket eine Gutschrift über 35,00 USD (2024) geben und wir können uns beliebig daraus bestellen. Aber die Kellnerin sagt uns, dass wir das Limit als gegenstandslos betrachten sollen, und wir nach Herzenslust bestellen sollen. Es gibt mittags eine einmalige Alterantive: Taj X - indisches Mittagessen, das allerdings nicht im Essenspaket inbegriffen ist. Seit dem ich ja irgendwie bei Cunard mit Rosenwasser im Dessert im indischen Pop-Up-Restaurant "ertränkt" wurde, rufe ich nicht immer sofort "hier", wenn indisches Essen angeboten wird. Außerdam passt uns der Limassol Tag überhaupt nicht.





Wir gehen zu dem exklusiven Mittagessen der Premium Access-Gäste gemeinsam mit den Concierge Class-Gästen. Ganz ehrlich: es gab doch Momente, in denen ich mich gefragt habe, ob wir nicht doch nach oben gehen sollten, um im SB-Restaurant zu essen. Das Mittagsangebot im Hauptrestaurant war alles andere als überzeugend. Die Auswahl war doch relativ klein.



We went to the exclusive lunch for Premium Access guests together with the Concierge Class guests. To be honest, there were moments when I wondered whether we should go upstairs to eat in the self-service restaurant. The lunch menu in the main restaurant was anything but convincing. The selection was relatively small.

We'll return to the self-service restaurant later to see what's available in the evening. It looks like lunchtime today.



Wir gehen später nochmals zum SB-Restaurant, um zu sehen, was abends angeboten wird. Sieht irgendwie aus, wie heute Mittag.









Abends gehen wir zunächst ins Theater. Dort stellt Cruise Director Kelly die Schiffsführung vor. Captain Ioannis stellt sich und seine Senioroffiziere kurz vor. Die reservierten Sitzplätze für die Premium Access-Gäste finde ich nicht. Ich spreche später Kelly darauf an. Am folgenden Tag sind sie entsprechend auch eingerichtet. Ich hatte allerdings zuvor jemanden gefragt, der mir eine vorlaute Antwort gab. Das war auch die einzige Kompetenz, die er hatte. Er war aber die berühmte Nadel im Heuhaufen, die man erst mal an Bord suchen und finden musste. Ich hatte ihn auch bewusst umgegangen und um eine anderes Crewmitglied gebeten habe, das mich bedient, weil auf einen neuerlichen Kontakt keinen Wert legte. Aber wie gesagt: das war wirklich die berühmte Nadel, sonst waren diejenigen, mit denen ich zu tun hatte, alle sehr nett, zuvorkommend, höflich und freundlich. Es gab noch einen Fall von "Zickenkrieg" (so etwas würde unter Männern NIE passieren - die hätten sich schon die Nase blutig geschlagen und als Teil der Aktivitäten verkauft...), bei dem ich der Meinung war, dass man so etwas nicht unbedingt im öffentlichen Raum austragen muss. Aber die Crew kann ja nicht immer so an Land wie wir und hockt ja doch sehr eng aufeinander. Da bleiben Konflikte nicht aus. Später entdecke ich einen Boxsack an Bord... sehr gute Möglichkeit, um sich abzureagieren.



In the evening we first go to the theater. There, Cruise Director Kelly introduces the ship's management. Captain Ioannis briefly introduces himself and his senior officers. I can't find the reserved seats for Premium Access guests, but I'll talk to Kelly later. The following day, they are set up accordingly. However, I had previously asked someone who gave me a cheeky answer. That was the only competence he had. But he was the famous needle in a haystack that you first had to look for and find on board. I also deliberately bypassed him and asked another crew member to serve me because renewed contact had no value. But as I said, that was the famous needle; otherwise, everyone I dealt with was very nice, courteous, polite, and friendly. There was another case of a "catfight" (something like that would NEVER happen between men - they would have bloodied their noses and sold it as part of the activities...) where I felt that something like that wouldn't necessarily happen must take place in public spaces. But the crew can't always go on land like we do; they sit very close together. Conflicts are inevitable. Later, I discovered a punching bag on board. It was a perfect opportunity to let off steam.

The two female and male singers and the two combinations of singers and dancers bring a kind of song recital with pieces of film music. I like the songs. The only problem is that singing with a headset or handheld microphone differs. They sang beautifully, but you couldn't always hear it in the hall. But the following three production shows with headsets were great. Not great: my test with my iPhone. I will use my camera in the theater again, mainly because Celebrity encourages you to record as much as you want and share it with the world through social media. Somehow, they were the only ones who understood: no one from Carnival or NCL would watch the YouTube videos and then copy the celebrity shows. The other companies are paranoid about this. Especially NCL, if they "shoot" me with the laser again and accept that I will go blind if they hit my eye.



Die beiden Sängerinnen und Sänger, sowie die beiden Kombi-Sänger(innen) und Tänzer(innnen), bringen eine Art Liederabend mit Filmmusikstücken. Die Songs gefallen mir. Einziges Problem: Singen mit Headset oder Singen mit einem Handmikrofon sind doch zwei Paar Schuhe. Sie haben bestimmt schön gesungen, aber man hörte es nicht immer im Saal. Aber die nachfolgenden drei Productionshows mit Headsets waren richtig klasse. Nicht klasse: mein Test mit meinem iPhone. Ich werde im Theater wieder meine Kamera nutzen. Vor allem, weil Celebrity dazu auffordert, dass man soviel aufnehmen soll, wie man will, und es auch mit der ganzen Welt mit den sozialen Medien teilt. Die haben irgendwie als Einzige begriffen: niemand von Carnival oder NCL wird sich die YouTube Videos anschauen, um dann die Shows von Celebrity zu kopieren. Die anderen Gesellschaften haben in dieser Sache eine richtige Paranoia. Speziell NCL, wenn sie mich wieder mit dem Laser "beschießen" und in Kauf nehmen, dass ich erblinde, wenn sie mein Auge treffen.

Wir gehen zum Abendessen und wollen um 20:00 Uhr kurz beim LGBQTI+-Treffen vorbeischauen, wobei ich nur G bin. Da jedoch jeden Abend um 20:00 Uhr so eine Show durch die Bartender abgezogen wird, und ich auch keine reservierte Ecke für das Treffen finde, gehe ich direkt zum Essen weiter. Mir ist das hier zu voll, laut und kruschelig. Hoffentlich wird das wieder auf der ROTTERDAM so schön, wie damals auf der OOSTERDAM 2023.



We're going to dinner and want to stop by the LGBQTI+ meeting at 20:00 hrs. I'm just G. However, since the bartenders put on a show every evening at 20:00 hrs and I can't find a reserved corner for the meeting, I go straight to dinner. This is too crowded, loud, and noisy for me. Hopefully, it will be as lovely again at ROTTERDAM as on OOSTERDAM 2023.

Before the Tuscan Grille was added to the offering on CELEBRITY INFINITY, there was the UNITED STATES pay-as-you-go restaurant here. It's a shame: I would have loved to eat there, but the menu would have been identical to the Murano menu. Some historical pieces from the UNITED STATES are still displayed here to commemorate the ship and the restaurant. We only know the OLYMPIC restaurant on CELEBRITY MILLENNIUM 2014. For me, it was something special. Unfortunately, we didn't get to know the restaurants NORMANDIE on CELEBRITY SUMMIT and OCEAN LINERS on CELEBRITY CONSTELLATION. We took advantage of a special offer for the first evening. We had two meal reminders since I rebooked from 18:00 hrs to 20:00 hrs. I hope they don't even charge cancellation fees. The antipasti platter was a bit "modest" for Europeans. I have the flatbread as a second starter. But the others can do that better, too. It just wasn't for me. Happens! They advertise homemade pasta, which we can also see from our seats. I order them as a side dish. They probably don't know the Italian mamma's trick with the cup of pasta water, but in any case, the whole thing was a dry and hard affair. But none of that mattered: my rib-eye steak was heaven on earth. As on QUEEN VICTORIA 2023, I asked to have the rest brought to the cabin as a midnight snack, after which they didn't want to let me pack a doggy bag. After the steak, dessert no longer mattered. I had only tried the Tirami Su and looked forward to my steak sandwich at midnight. Where can I get floured onions??? Of course, we accept the Seafood Lunch offer offered.



Bevor der Tuscan Grille in das Angebot auf der CELEBRITY INFINITY aufgenommen wurde, gab es hier das Zuzahlrestaurant UNITED STATES. Sehr schade: ich hätte sehr gerne dort gegessen, aber die Karte wäre identisch mit der Karte vom Murano gewesen. Einige historische Stücke von der UNITED STATES sind hier aber noch ausgestellt, um an das Schiff und das Restaurant zu erinnern. Wir kennen nur noch das Restaraunt OLYMPIC auf der CELEBRITY MILLENNIUM 2014. Für mich war es schon etwas besonderes. Die Restaurants NORMANDIE auf der CELEBRITY SUMMIT und OCEAN LINERS auf der CELEBRITY CONSTELLATION haben wir leider nicht mehr kennengelernt. Es gab ein besonderes Angebot für den ersten Abend, den wir genutzt haben. Da ich umgebucht habe: von 18:00 Uhr auf 20:00 Uhr hatten wir zwei Essenserinnerungen. Ich will bloß hoffen, dass sie nicht einmal Stornogebühren verlangen. Die Antipasti-Platte war für Europäer eher etwas "bescheiden". Ich nehme noch als zweite Vorspeise das Flatbread. Aber auch das können die anderen besser. Es war einfach nicht meins. Das passiert! Sie werben mit den selbstgemachten Nudeln, die wir auch von unserem Platz aus sehen. Ich bestelle sie mir als Beilage. Die kennen wohl den Trick von der italienischen Mamma mit der Tasse Nudelwasser nicht, auf jeden Fall, war das ganze eine ziemlich trockene und harte Angelegenheit. Aber das spielte alles keine Rolle: Mein Rib-Eye-Steak war der Himmel auf Erden. Ich bat wie auf der QUEEN VICTORIA 2023 mir den Rest als Midnight-Snack auf die Kabine bringen zu lassen, nach dem sie mir kein Doggy-Bag packen lassen wollten. Das Dessert spielte nach dem Steak eh keine Rolle mehr. Ich hatte das Tirami Su nur probiert und mich auf mein Steak Sandwich um Mitternacht gefreut. Wo bekomme ich evtl. noch mehlierte Zwiebeln her??? Das angebotene Seafool-Lunch Angebot nehmen wir selbstverständlich an.
