Ich blicke rüber. Sollen wir nochmals hinfahren, um nochmals Fotos zu machen. Ich verzichte darauf. Es ist Nationalfeiertag. Die Innenstadt ist gesperrt. Lieber sicher zum Busbahnhof.

Während des Frühstücks läuft die GEMINI ein.

Wir warten bis dass Johanna kommt, bei Roger im Café al Bacio. Danach haben wir ein Riesenproblem. Es gibt nur vier Fahrstühle, die zum Ausgang im Mittelschiff führen. Die Fahrstühle vorne und hinten kann man nicht nutzen: es gibt eine Möglichkeit auf Deck 1 zum Mittelschiff zu laufen. Die meisten müssen einmal hoch und runter fahren, damit man die Chance hat, zum Ausgang zu kommen. Mit Liftboys könnte man die Kapazitäten erhöhen, um unnötige Stopps zu unterbinden und an Etagen zu halten, wenn noch Platz wäre. Hoteldirektor Srdjan (der gar nicht da war, sondern auf einem Meeting der Hoteldirektoren in Miami, wenn ich das richtig verstanden habe) muss ich doch mal darauf ansprechen. Es war einer der echten Schwachpunkte der Reise. Aber es ist auch etwas sehr überraschendes passiert: während unsere Bordkarten ausgelesen werden, werde ich gefragt, ob ich meine Tasche von Maniya bekommen habe. Ich sage leider nein. Maniya hatte bis 04:00 Uhr Nachtschicht und hat wohl etwas für mich hinterlassen. Sie haben wohl gemeinsam von dem Sicherheitsteam etwas für mich vorbereitet, als Dankeschön für das Gebäck aus Zypern. Also habe ich einen Grund ja wieder mit der CELEBRITY INFINITY zu buchen. Ich bin sprachlos. Unser Gepäck ist schon da. Draußen stehen die Taxis aber keine Johanna. Die Abholer bzw. vorgebuchten Taxis stehen links bei den Bussen und nicht rechts bei den Taxen. In der Facebook-Gruppe hat man geschrieben, dass sie wohl eine Tour über die Akropolis zum Flughafen anbieten. Ich weise darauf hin, dass die Akropolis heute geschlossen hat, weil Nationalfeiertag ist. Die anderen fragen nach und schnell wird dieser Transfer aus dem Angebot genommen.



We wait until Johanna comes with Roger in the Café al Bacio. After that, we have a huge problem. There are only four elevators leading to the exit in the nave. You cannot use the elevators at the front and back; walking to the middle ship on deck 1 is an option. Most of them have to go up and down once so that you have a chance to get to the exit. With lift boys, capacity could be increased to prevent unnecessary stops and to stop at floors if there was still space. I have to ask hotel manager Srdjan (who wasn't there at all but at a hotel managers' meeting in Miami, if I understand correctly) about it. It was one of the actual weak points of the trip. But something shocking also happened: I was asked if I got my bag from Maniya while our boarding passes were being read. Unfortunately, I say no. Maniya was on the night shift until 04:00 hrs and must have left something for me. The security team must have prepared something for me as a thank-you for the pastries from Cyprus. So I have a reason to book on CELEBRITY INFINITY again. I'm speechless. Our luggage is already there. There are taxis outside, but no Johanna. The pick-up or pre-booked taxis are on the left of the buses and not on the right of the taxis. People wrote in the Facebook group that they would probably offer a tour of the Acropolis to the airport. I want to point out that the Acropolis is closed today because it is a national holiday. The others ask, and this transfer is quickly removed from the offer.

Johanna got us to the KTEL bus station on time. We are amazed: it works a lot better than with Flixbus, Germany. There is always someone there to invite you, so no one can steal the luggage you have invited. I booked fixed seats for FREE (it costs money with Flixbus and National Express, Great Britain). Everyone here adheres to it. We booked the seats at the front. Nobody sat there. Everyone sticks to the reservations. The bus leaves on time and is fast on the highway. On the way, he occasionally stops at stops and intersections in the middle of nowhere. The KTEL bus stations are always on the periphery, saving time across the city.



Johanna hat uns pünktlich zum KTEL-Busbahnhof. Wir sind erstaunt: es läuft um einiges besser als bei Flixbus. Es ist immer jemand da, der einlädt und so kann keiner eingeladenes Gepäck klauen. Ich hatte KOSTENLOS (bei Flixbus und National Express kostet es Geld), feste Plätze zu buchen. Hier halten sich alle daran. Wir haben die Plätze ganz vorne gebucht. Niemand hat sich da hin gesetzt. Alle halten sich an die Reservierungen. Der Bus fährt pünktlich ab und ist schnell auf der Autobahn. Unterwegs hält er zwischendurch an Haltestellen und Kreuzungen mitten in der Pampa. Die KTEL-Busbahnhöfe sind immer an der Peripherie, so dass sie nicht viel Zeit verlieren, weil sie quer durch die Stadt fahren.

I discovered that the Gallery Art Hotel is at the bus station, so it's perfect for us. We can continue here tomorrow, and in the afternoon, our bus will continue from here to Thessaloniki. In the meantime, we can leave our luggage at the hotel and set off shortly before departure.



Zufällig habe ich entdeckt, dass im Busbahnhof das Gallery Art Hotel ist. So ist es perfekt für uns. Wir können hier morgen weiter und nachmittags geht unser Bus von hier weiter nach Thessaloniki. Zwischenzeitlich können wir unser Gepäck im Hotel stehen lassen und kurz vor Abfahrt losgehen.

Wir fahren abends mit einem Taxi nach Trikala zum Abendessen. Mein Chef sagte schon, dass Trikala im Winter quasi das "beleuchtete Weihnachtsdorf" Griechenlands ist. Wir essen bei Palia Istoria. Vieles ist schon ausverkauft. Ich bekomme eine Portion Souvlaki mit zwei statt mit vier Spießen. Schön, dass sie meinem kleineren Magen entgegen kommen. Es ist hier sehr lecker.



In the evening, we take a taxi to Trikala for dinner. My boss said Trikala is Greece's "illuminated Christmas village" in winter. We eat at Palia Istoria. Many things are already sold out. I get a portion of souvlaki with two skewers instead of four. It's nice that they accommodate my smaller stomach. It's delicious here.

We drink an espresso in a café (Arjin at the corner Karaiskaki/Mpotsari). They are very friendly to us here when they realize that we don't want to go "to go" but want to drink here. Then we drive back to the bus station. It's my birthday tomorrow, and we have something special planned.



Wir trinken noch in einem Café (Arjin an der Ecke Karaiskai/Mpotsari) einen Espresso. Sie sind hier sehr nett zu uns, als sie merken, dass wir gar nicht "to go" wollen, sondern hier trinken. Danach fahren wir wieder zum Busbahnhof zurück. Morgen habe ich Geburtstag und wir haben etwas besonderes vor.
