Ich liebe diese Kabine: jeden Morgen diese Aussicht. Kann ein Tag schöner beginnen. Bruno missbraucht unsere Klimaanlage als Wäschetrockner. Und ich habe meinen Holland-America-100%-Baumwolle-Hoodie bekleckert. Ich habe Angst, dass ich einen HAL-Hoodie abgebe und einen Celebrity-Hoodie zurückbekomme. Aber sowohl der Express-Dienst funktioniert und ich bekomme Holland America zurück.



I love this cabin: this view every morning. Can a day start more beautifully? Bruno misuses our air conditioning system as a clothes dryer, and I spilled my Holland America 100% cotton hoodie. I'm afraid I'll give away a HAL hoodie and get a Celebrity hoodie back. But both the express service works, and I get Holland America back.

One thing is just as "bad" as at CELEBRITY MILLENNIUM 2014: the ventilation in the bathroom, but this time, it works so well that the moisture hasn't settled in the carpet, and it smells musty. Unfortunately, there is no socket for the razor in the bathroom, but you can probably prevent someone from "killing themselves" while shaving in the shower or during a toilet session. On the first day, three senior German couples sat down next to us, and a woman told us how wrong everything was on board and that she was not at all happy with the maid: she had put two toothbrush glasses in the middle of the shelf. And now she wouldn't know how to store her things. Didn't she have owners like we do? Doesn't she have a hand to move the glasses so everything fits? The thin pumps and the tight mounting on the shower wall make removing it more challenging.



Eines ist genauso "schlecht" wie auf der CELEBRITY MILLENNIUM 2014: die Lüftung im Badezimmer, aber dieses Mal läuft sie so gut, dass sich die Feuchtigkeit nicht im Teppichboden festgesetzt hat und es modrig riecht. Es gibt leider keine Steckdose für den Rasierer im Bad, aber man wohl verhindern, dass sich jemand beim Rasieren unter der Dusche oder während einer Toilettensitzung "umbringt". Am ersten Tag haben sich drei deutsche Seniorenpaare neben uns gesetzt und eine Frau erzählt, wie schlimm alles an Bord sei und sie überhaupt nicht mit dem Zimmermädchen zufrieden sei: sie hätte zwei Zahnputzgläser mitten auf die Ablage gestellt. Und sie wüsste jetzt nicht, wie sie ihre Sachen unterbringen soll. Gab es bei ihr keine Halter, wie bei uns? Hat sie keine Hand, um die Gläser so umzusetzen, dass alles passt? Einzig die dünnen Pumpen und die enge Montage an der Duschwand, macht eine einfache Entnahme nicht besonders einfach.







There are three employees in Future Cruise Sales. You never see that all three are busy at the same time. Often, you get the impression that they are playing solitaire or soduku all the time because no one is there. I'll ask: I can hardly believe it: the deposit is (supposedly) non-refundable, you can only book for six months to use the onboard credit, and then you can book for six months without onboard credit. If I make a firm booking on board, I can only rebook with a 100 USD rebooking fee and lose the onboard credit. I can hardly believe it. I contacted Dorothy, and she recommends that I avoid booking or paying a deposit on board, given my booking habits. But I ask you to be safe, and it is explained to me: with a smaller discount, you can also book with refundable deposits. Otherwise, the same applies. Shortly before the end of the trip, I saw a massive pile of envelopes from other companies that we also knew of, but I had never seen so few for a ten-day trip.



Es sitzen drei Mitarbeiter im Future Cruise Verkauf. Nie sieht man, dass alle drei gleichzeitig beschäftigt sind. Oft hat man eher den Eindruck, dass sie die ganze Zeit Solitaire oder Soduku spielen, weil niemand da ist. Ich frage mal nach: ich kann es kaum glauben: die Anzahlung ist (angeblich) nicht rückerstattbar, man darf nur sechs Monate buchen, um das Bordguthaben zu nutzen und danach hat man Gelegenheit sechs Monate ohne Bordguthaben zu buchen. Sollte ich an Bord fest buchen, darf ich nur mit 100 USD Umbuchungsgebühr umbuchen und verliere das Bordguthaben. Ich kann es kaum glauben. Ich kontaktiere Dorothy und sie empfiehlt mir bei meinen Buchungsgewohnheiten, auf die Buchung oder Anzahlung an Bord zu verzichten. Ich frage aber sicherheitshalber nach, und mir wird erklärt: mit weniger Rabatt kann man auch mit erstattbaren Anzahlungen buchen. Sonst gilt das gleiche. Kurz vor Ende der Reise sehe ich einen Riesenhaufen von Briefumschlägen, die wir auch von anderen Gesellschaften kennen, aber so wenige für eine zehntägige Reise habe ich noch nie gesehen.

Draußen entdecke ich die Hamburger Bude. Aber ohne Bratwurst - nur Hot Dog. Die Promenade ist zeitweise gesperrt. Reinigung oder Wetter?



I discovered congee during breakfast at Oceanview Café. There are two servings daily. They even have chicken congee here. There are a lot of Asians on board.



Ich entdecke Congee hier beim Frühstück im Oceanview Café. Also gibt es zwei Portionen täglich. Es gibt hier sogar Chicken Congee. Es sind sehr viele Asiaten an Bord.









Wir erleben wieder ein tolles Frühstück. Irvin teilt uns wieder einen schönen Tisch zu. Wir sehen, dass Bruno zwei unterschiedliche Kaffeesorten bekommen hat. Ich bekomme meine Pittahaya. Meine Welt ist in Ordnung. Freddy und Santika delivered an outstanding service. Alarm: ein blinder Passagier ist an Bord! Und Bruno bekommt sogar seine Beeren.



We experience a great breakfast again. Irvin gives us another lovely table. We see that Bruno was given two different types of coffee. I get my pittahaya. My world is fine. Freddy and Santika delivered outstanding service. Alarm: a stowaway is on board! And Bruno even gets his berries.

In the morning, the men have a view: Budiasa, Edwin, and Wayan are the baristas on duty. In the afternoon, the women are responsible. Maria and Yulia always look after us very lovingly. These mini eclairs are mean: they always shout: EAT ME! Only when the band plays in front of the Martini Bar in the atrium in the evening does it get quite loud here, too.



Morgens haben die Männer Sicht: Budiasa, Edwin und Wayan sind die Barista vom Dienst. Nachmittags sind die Frauen zuständig. Maria und Yulia kümmern sich auch immer sehr liebevoll um uns. Diese Mini-Eclairs sind gemein: sie rufen immer: ISS MICH! Nur, wenn die Band abends vor der Martini-Bar im Atrium spielt, dann wird es auch hier recht laut.









Wir essen mittags im Tuscan Grille. Es gibt Seafood-Lunch: nicht sehr billig: 45 USD (plus Service Charge). Es gibt wieder das leckere Brot vom Abendessen. Die Lobster Bisque ist sehr gut. Ein guter Einstieg. Fish and Chips ist etwas groß, aber lecker. Danach wäre man satt. Deswegen hat man uns angeboten, dass man es gemeinsam serviert, damit man den Überblick nicht verliert. Der Lobster Thermidor war fantastisch. Aber danach ist man auch nur satt. Nur die Muscheln mussten sie wohl von meinem Kabinenservice für mich aufbewahrt haben und wieder serviert... Wieder keine Norseemuscheln! Und der Branzino/Wolfsbarsch verfolgt mich schon im Schlaf. Und ganz ganz schlechter Service: SIE BRINGEN MIR KEINEN ROLLSTUHL nach dem Nachtisch. Ein Crumble mit Vanille-Eis... wenn das alles einer aufgegessen hat, muss es doch auf der backboard Schlagseite geben. Ich werde künftig nur noch mit Mikrowelle an Bord gehen und zum Tuscan Grille Mikrowellengeschirr mitnehmen: Dann brauche ich keinen Kabinenservice und Late-Night-Snack mehr. Dann kann ich alles in meiner Kabine aufwärmen. Wer soll das alles essen??? Ich verzichte auf meinen Plan, zumindest noch ein Satay im Hauptrestaurant zu holen... Nach dem Essen sollst du ruhen!!! Ich folge diesem Grundsatz. Ich bin absolut bewegungsunfähig!



We have lunch at Tuscan Grille. A seafood lunch is not very cheap: 45 USD (plus the service charge). There is the delicious bread from dinner again. The lobster bisque is delicious — a good start. Fish and chips are big but tasty. Afterward, we would be full. That's why we were offered to serve it together so we don't lose track. The Lobster Thermidor was fantastic. But after that, you're just full. They must have only saved the mussels from my cabin service for me and served them again... No Norse mussels again! And the branzino/sea bass haunts me in my sleep. And lousy service: THEY DON'T BRING ME A WHEELCHAIR after dessert. A crumble with vanilla ice cream... if someone has eaten it all, there must be a list on the backboard. In the future, I will only go on board with a microwave and take microwave dishes to the Tuscan Grille. Then, I will no longer need cabin service and late-night snacks. Then, I can warm everything up in my cabin. Who is going to eat all this??? I forego my plan to get at least one satay in the main restaurant... You should rest after your meal!!! I follow this principle. I am immobile!

In the evening, there will be another event with the senior officers. But why this ring? Do they have to jump through later? I'm very excited. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen. They pose very photogenic on the stairs.



Abends findet wieder eine Veranstaltung mit den Senioroffizieren statt. Aber wozu dieser Ring? Müssen sie später durchspringen? Ich bin schon sehr gespannt. Leider passiert das nicht. Sie stellen sich sehr fotogen auf der Treppe auf.

Es geht zum Abendessen: Schweinelende - und das gab es bereits mittags. Das ist auch wirklich einer der wenigen Schwachpunkte, aber nur wohl jemandem auffällt, der selten im SB-Restaurant mittags isst. Das Carpaccio wird direkt mit Olivenöl und Balsamessig serviert. Klasse! Wir nehmen noch Shrimpcocktail. OK: die sind bei allen immer kleiner geworden, aber sehr schön saftig. Da ich ja jedes Mal sage, dass ich gegen Brokkoli allergisch bin, bringt mir Elmer eine Auswahl anderer Gemüsesorten. Er ist auch derjenige, der uns immer zum Lachen bringt: Ich wollte von etwas nur eins haben und er bringt mir zwei und meint heute gibt es 2 für 1! Ich "warne" dann immer die Tischnachbarn - nur zu uns ist er immer nett und bekommen 2 für 1. Alle anderen bekommen 2 für 3. Es ist eine Freude, von ihm und Roshan bedient zu werden.



It's time for dinner: pork loin - already there for lunch. This is one of the few weak points, but it will only be noticed by someone who rarely eats lunch in a self-service restaurant. The carpaccio is served directly with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Class! We'll have a shrimp cocktail. OK: they have all become smaller and smaller, but they are very juicy. Since I always say that I'm allergic to broccoli, Elmer brings me a selection of other vegetables. He's also the one who always makes us laugh: I only wanted one of something, and he brings me two and says today it's 2 for 1! I then always "warn" the people sitting next to me - he's only always lovely to us, and we get 2 for 1. Everyone else gets 2 for 3. It's a pleasure to be served by him and Roshan.

We go to the Martini Bar. We don't see any other gays. I ask about non-alcoholic cocktails, but they don't bother: I can have Fruit Punch; otherwise, there wouldn't be anything. We prefer to go to Café al Bacio; they are more attentive to us there.



Wir gehen in die Martini Bar. Andere Schwule sehen wir nicht. Ich frage nach alkoholfreien Cocktails. Aber sie machen sich keine Mühe: ich kann gerne Fruit Punch haben, sonst wäre nichts da. Wir gehen lieber zum Café al Bacio: dort sind sie aufmerksamer zu uns.

James Lee Humphreys ist ein fantistischer Gastkünstler. Vor uns sitzen einige der Sänger und Tänzer. James hat eine Opernsängerausbildung. Ich kann mich an die anderen Lieder nicht mehr erinnern - und ob er sie gut oder schlecht gesungen hat. Aber am Schluss gab es "The Impossible Dream" aus dem Musical Don Quixote de la Mancha. Wäre ich ein Eisblock: ich wäre jetzt eine Pfütze im Theater. Bruno war der Leidtragende - das Lied läuft nachts in einer Endlosschleife. "To dream the impossible dream, to fight the unbeatable foe, to bear with unbearable sorrow, to run where the brave dare not go..."



James Lee Humphreys is a fantastic guest artist. Some of the singers and dancers are sitting in front of us. James trained as an opera singer. I am trying to remember the other songs - whether he sang them well or poorly. But "The Impossible Dream" was from the musical Don Quixote de la Mancha at the end. If I were a block of ice, I would be a puddle in the theater. Bruno was the one who suffered - the song plays in an endless loop at night. "To dream the impossible dream, to fight the unbeatable foe, to bear with unbearable sorrow, to run where the brave dare not go..."

I'm so excited that I can't go to bed yet, so I'm going to the silent disco again.



Ich bin so aufgedreht, dass ich noch nicht ins Bett kann und gehe daher mal wieder zur Silent Disco.





Danach brauche ich eine Kleinigkeit zu essen und gehe noch zum Late-Night-Büffet. Und danach geht es ins Bett. Am nächsten Tag findet der einzige Ganztagesausflug der Reise statt. Da muss ich doch einigermaßen wach sein.
