Tag/Day 06 auf der/on CELEBRITY INFINITY in Limassol, Cyprus

Auch ohne Balkon läuft es! Der Blick morgens entschädigt für alles! Bruno wird wieder vom Spa eingeladen, sich endlich schön machen zu lassen. Ich nutze nochmals den Kabinenservice: Ich probiere die Hühner-Nudel-Suppe - die Standardsuppe aller Kabinenlieferdienste auf allen Schiffen - immer gut, wenn es einem schlecht ist: egal, ob Seekrankheit, Erkältung, Hühneraugen, Magen-Darm, oder Menstruationsbeschwerden. Immer gut. Die Canapés habe ich gar nicht bestellt.



It works even without a balcony! The look in the morning makes up for everything! Bruno is invited back to the spa to finally make himself beautiful. I use the cabin service again: I try the chicken noodle soup — the standard soup of all cabin delivery services on all ships — always good when you're feeling sick, regardless of whether you're seasick, cold, corns, gastrointestinal, or menstrual problems. I didn't even order the canapés.

What is the coffee doing in the stairwell? Is Lavazza in household packaging? Later, I meet James and tell him again how great he sang last night. I hope to see his second show and that my boss doesn't invite me to dinner late.



Was macht eigentlich der Kaffee im Treppenhaus? Lavazza in der Haushaltspackung? Später treffe ich James und sage ihm nochmals, wie toll er gestern Abend gesungen hat. Ich hoffe, dass ich seine 2. Show sehen kann und mein Chef mich nicht zu spät zum Essen einlädt.





Wir nehmen ja fast immer das Gleiche zum Frühstück. Bruno versucht ein einzelnes hart gekochtes Ei zu bestellen: es gibt sie natürlich nur als Pärchen. Ante ist der andere der beiden Restaurant Hosts.



We almost always have the same thing for breakfast. Bruno tries to order a single hard-boiled egg, but of course, they only come in pairs. Ante is the other of the two restaurant hosts.



Wir sind zum allerersten Mal auf Zypern. Ein schönes neues Terminal - betrieben von DP World. Mit denen habe ich beruflich auch zu tun.



This is our first time in Cyprus, a beautiful new terminal operated by DP World. I also deal with them professionally.



Wir werden von Konstantinos von Sunshine Safari Tours erwartet. Er war der einzige, der bereit war, uns in Limassol abzuholen und auch einen günstigeren Preis berechnet, wenn wir nur zu zweit sind. Seit unserer Jeep-Tour auf den Azoren auf der OOSTERDAM 2023, sind wir ganz begeistert.



Konstantinos from Sunshine Safari Tours is waiting for us. He was the only one willing to pick us up in Limassol and charged a lower price when there were just two of us. We have been very excited since our jeep tour in the Azores on OOSTERDAM 2023.

We stop at the Kouris reservoir for the first time. Konstantinos explains that the church is usually not accessible, but it hasn't rained for three years, so we can also see the average water level at the reservoir boundary.



Wir halten zum ersten Mal am Kouris-Reservoir. Konstantinos erklärt uns, dass die Kirche normalerweise nicht erreichbar ist, aber es hat drei Jahre nicht geregnet. Deswegen können wir auch den normalen Wasserstand an Stauseebegrenzung sehen.

Unterwegs halten wir an, um die Aussicht zu genießen und zu fotografieren. Konstantinos erläutert uns Flora und Fauna Zyperns.

We arrive in the town of Lania and look around — it is a charming, colorful village with lots of flowers. The church is currently being cleaned, but we are greeted very friendly and shown around.



Wir kommen in dem Ort Lania an und schauen uns um. Ein sehr schönes buntes Dorf mit vielen Blumen. In der Kirche wird gerade saubergemacht. Wir werden aber sehr freundlich empfangen und rumgeführt.

Der nächste Stopp ist am Mesa-Patamos-Wasserfall. Ich werde von einer Katze begleitet. Zum Glück haben wir die Wanderschuhe an.

We continue to Omodos. Very friendly, too.



Es geht weiter nach Omodos. Auch sehr schön.

Wir besuchen Georges Bäckerei. Sie haben auch mehr: Nüsse und viele Süßigkeiten. Wir kaufen Nüsse und ein Stück Gebäck zum Mittagessen. Die Kringel mit Käse sind einfach himmlisch. Da die Sicherheitsleute ja immer das Schiff bewachen müssen, während wir auf Landgang sind, kaufen wir für das gesamte Sicherheitsteam Gebäck. Das riecht so toll. Außerdem nehmen wir noch etwas Brendon mit. Als wir gehen wollen, fällt es an zu regnen. Zum Glück nur ein Regenschauer, der zehn Minuten dauert. Also probieren weitere Nüsse usw..



We visit George's bakery. They also have more nuts and lots of sweets. We buy nuts and a piece of pastry for lunch. The curls with cheese are simply heavenly. Since the security guards always have to guard the ship while we are on shore leave, we buy pastries for the entire security team. That smells so great. We'll also take some Brendon with us. As we are about to leave, it starts to rain. Luckily, it was just a rain shower that lasted ten minutes. So try more nuts, etc..

We go to St. Helena Church. When I was leaving, I only saw the sign stating that photography is prohibited.



Wir gehen in die St. Helena Kirche. Das Schild, dass hier Fotografieren verboten ist, habe ich erst beim Rausgehen gesehen.

Wir wollen eine Tasse zypriotischen Kaffee trinken. Das Café dass es nach zypriotischen Art in einer besonderen Trommel herstellt, hat leider geschlossen. Ich kann allerdings keinen Unterschied zum griechischen und türkischen Kaffee rausschmecken.



We want to have a cup of Cypriot coffee. Unfortunately, the café that produces it in the Cypriot style with a unique drum is closed. However, I can't taste any difference between it and Greek or Turkish coffee.

Next, we go to Olivenfram Oleastro. It's closed for renovations, but Konstantinos persuaded the owner to come and show us around. We look around the garden, and then we are shown the production. For the best type of oil, 100 EUR is charged for 0.5 l (17 fl. oz): he tells us everything we already know from the test booklet. We try a few varieties of his oils and buy a few bottles of medium quality. They are safely packed in wooden boxes. Others go wine tasting, and we prefer to try olive oil.



Als nächstes geht es zur Olivenfram Oleastro. Eigentlich ist es wegen Umbau geschlossen, aber Konstantitos hat den Besitzer überredet, dass er vorbeikommt und uns alles zeigt. Wir sehen uns in dem Garten um, und danach wird uns die Produktion gezeigt. Für die beste Ölsorte wird für 0,5 l 100 EUR verlangt: er erzählt uns alles, was wir bereits aus dem test-Heft wissen. Wir probieren einige Sorten von seinen Ölen und kaufen ein paar Flaschen mittlerer Qualität. Sie sind in Holzkisten sicher verpackt. Andere gehen zur Weinprobe und wir probieren lieber Olivenöl.

Als letztes besuchen wir noch einen 700 Jahre alten Olivenbaum. Danach fahren wir zurück. Wir müssen noch Geld abheben und stellen fest: mehr als 220 EUR spuckt der Geldautomat nicht aus. Wir erinnern an die Finanzkrise, als damals die Ausgabe am Geldautomat auch beschränkt war. Aber wir haben den Eindruck, dass es einen technischen Grund hat: Es wurden nur 20 EUR-Scheine ausgegeben. Und mehr hätte wohl nicht mehr durch den Schlitz gepasst. Lt. Google Maps sollte unsere Agentur hier in der Nähe sein. Aber wieder einmal ist es bei Google Maps falsch eingetragen. Dann bekomme ich ein anderes Kaffee in deren Büro. Eine ganz tolle Tour geht zu Ende.



Finally, we visit a 700-year-old olive tree. Then we drive back. We still have to withdraw money and realize that the ATM will only pay out EUR 220. We remember the financial crisis when cash withdrawals at ATMs were also restricted. But there is a technical reason: only 20 EUR bills were issued. And more would not fit through the slot. According to Google Maps, it should be our agency near here. But once again, it needs to be entered correctly into Google Maps. Then I get another coffee in their office. A great tour comes to an end.

Heute Abend ist Julian Smith der Gastkünstler. Es ist ok. So ganz trifft es nicht meinen Geschmack. Er spielt Karl Jenkins "Palladio". Ich liebe das Stück. Dann fordert er das Publikum auf, im Takt dazu zu klatschen. Da war meine Begeisterung für ihn vorbei.



Tonight's guest artist is Julian Smith. It's ok. I would like something else to suit my taste. He plays Karl Jenkins' "Palladio". I love the piece. He then asks the audience to clap in time. Then, my enthusiasm for him was over.

I didn't want to go back to Le Petit Chef. But this time, we had excellent advice: we were told that there are two menu sequences here. One on days 1-5 applies (Branzino... not again and short ribs), and on days 6-10, there are lobster and filet mignon, among other things. I want to go there since I missed it on CELEBRITY REFLECTION 2022. We experience first-class service. Reiniere, George, and Marino offer us perfect service. The lobster is delicious. The sauce is to die for. I ask for a small spoon. Instead, they took the plate from me and brought me another plate of lobster and a spoon. Marino says: if I like the sauce so much... Of course, I won't leave the lobster. I'm annoyed that we weren't there for the first program because of the service. George tells me I can look forward to my next trip with Celebrity. Six new topics are coming to the program at Le Petit Chef.



Eigentlich wollte ich nicht wieder zu Le Petit Chef. Aber wir hatten dieses Mal eine sehr gute Beratung: man sagte uns, dass es hier zwei Menüfolgen gibt. Eine an den Tagen 1-5 gilt (Branzino... nicht schon wieder und Short-Ribs) und an den Tagen 6-10 gibt es u.a. Hummer und Filet Mignon. Da ich das auf der CELEBRITY REFLECTION 2022 verpasst habe, will ich dahin. Wir erleben einen erstklassigen Service. Reiniere, George und Marino bieten uns einen perfekten Service. Der Hummer ist sehr gut. Die Sauce ist der Traum. Ich bitte um einen kleinen Löffel. Sie nehmen mir stattdessen den Teller ab und bringen mir einen weiteren Teller mit Hummer und ein Löffel dazu. Marino meint: wenn mir die Sauce so sehr schmeckt... Den Hummer lasse ich natürlich nicht stehen. Nun ärgere ich mich doch, dass wir nicht schon beim 1. Programm dabei waren. Schon alleine des Services wegen. George sagt mir, dass ich mich auf meine nächste Reise mit Celebrity freuen kann. Es kommen wohl sechs Themen bei Le Petit Chef neu ins Programm.

Als wir fertig sind und runterlaufen (über dem Oceanview Café) ist das Late Night Büffet bereits aufgebaut. Wir gucken zumindest, was es gibt.











Heute findet die Full Moon Party statt. Man soll in weiß kommen. Aber ich bin nach einer Minute wieder weg. Dafür bin ich jetzt eindeutig zu müde, obwohl morgen wieder ein Seetag wäre.
