Tag/Day 6 auf der/on CELEBRITY REFLECTION in Kotor, Montenegro

Eins macht uns wahnsinnig: der Safe. Der klappert, wenn er geschlossen ist. Wir gewöhnen uns an das Klappern. Ich bekomme wieder einen Anruf: für die cruisecritic.com-Mitglieder, die nicht sowieso am Kapitänsempfang für Captain's Club Mitglieder teilnehmen, wird angeboten, dass sie daran teilnehmen dürfen, damit wir uns dort austauschen können. Nur da ich niemand persönlich kenne, kann ich die Einladung leider nicht weitergeben. Aber die Geste ist sehr nett gemeint. Ich bekomme ein vom Kapitän Nikolas signiertes Schiffsmodell. Ich freue mich sehr.



One thing drives us crazy: the safe. It rattles when closed, and we get used to the rattling. I get another call: for those cruisecritic.com members who aren't going to be attending the Captain's Club Members' Reception anyway, they're being offered the opportunity to participate so we can chat. Unfortunately, I can't pass on the invitation since I don't know anyone personally. But the gesture is meant very nicely. I got a ship model signed by Captain Nikolas. I am happy.









CENTURY 2008, NORWEGIAN JADE 2008, MSC FANTASIA 2009, ISLAND PRINCESS 2013, EUROPA 2014, ALLURE OF THE SEAS 2015, MSC MAGNIFICA 2021: We have often had aft balcony cabins. But for the first time, we have the Russ that others have been heralding. That's why Raymondo had already given us older towels so we could put them on the balcony furniture. He knows the problem well and says that otherwise, it will be challenging to get the white towels white again. Raymondo checks if soot is on the balcony again every day and removes it. But luckily, we only had it once. Unfortunately, we also find that we carry the soot in when we walk around outside.

Aber zum ersten Mal haben wir den Russ, den andere angekündigt haben. Raymondo hatte uns deswegen auch schon ältere Handtücher gegeben, damit wir die auf die Balkonmöbel legen können. Er kennt das Problem wohl und sagt, dass es sonst schwierig wird, die weißen Handtücher wieder weiß zu bekommen. Jeden Tag guckt Raymondo nach, ob wieder Russ auf dem Balkon ist und macht es weg. Aber zum Glück hatten wir es nur einmal. Wir stellen leider auch fest, dass wir den Russ reintragen, wenn wir draußen rumlaufen.







Everyone has already "forewarned" me about the beautiful entrance to Kotor, Montenegro, and we are here for the first time. Some say it's the southernmost fjord, but it's not ice age remnants here, and it's the sea that has eaten its way into a river. It doesn't matter: it's just as beautiful.



Mich haben ja alle schon "vorgewarnt", wie schön die Einfahrt nach Kotor ist und wir sind hier das erste Mal. Manche sagen, dass es der südlichste Fjord sei, aber es ist hier keine Überbleibsel der Eiszeit, sondern das Meer, das sich in einen Fluss reingefressen hat. Es spielt keine Rolle: es ist genauso schön.

Wieso geht hier nichts auf dem Smartphone: Ländergruppe 3. Oder doch EU wie auf der App angezeigt. Wir müssen jedoch einen Datenpass buchen, um Bilder zu übertragen.

Too bad we are the last ship to arrive. So we can already see that the SEABOURN QUEST is already here. However, it leaves shortly after us, so we are fortunate with our aft cabin.



Schade, dass wir das letzte Schiff sind, dass ankommt. So können wir schon sehen, dass die SEABOURN QUEST bereits da ist. Sie läuft aber später kurz nach uns aus, so dass wir mit unserer Heckkabine sehr viel Glück haben.

Und noch die MARELLA EXPLORER 2, die sogar direkt am Pier anlegen darf. Auch da kommen böse Erinnerungen: die ehemalige CENTURY 2008. Unsere erst Reise mit Celebrity. Später überholt sie uns beim Auslaufen.



And the MARELLA EXPLORER 2 is even allowed to dock directly at the pier. There are bad memories too: the former CENTURY 2008. On our first trip with Celebrity, and later she overtakes us when leaving.

So here is the test station. We would have liked to take one of the crew with us on our excursion, but the crew is only allowed to go ashore individually after we have left.



Hier ist also die Teststation. Wir hätten gerne jemanden von der Crew auf unseren Ausflug mitgenommen, aber erst nach dem wir unterwegs sind, darf die Crew wieder individuelle Landgänge machen.

Ich bedanke mich nochmals bei Hoteldirektor Vlado für die Überraschung gestern Abend in der Kabine.

Jeden Morgen und Abend teilt uns Marina den Tisch zu. Olena kann schon meine Wünsche von den Augen ablesen. Sie weißt schon, dass ich laktosefreie Milch nehme und selbst meinen Eistee mache. Alex hat für mich Kirschen besorgt, aber sagt auch direkt, dass sie leider im Moment so schnell verderben, dass es wohl das einzige Mal bleiben wird. Wären die drei damals an Bord der CENTURY 2008 oder CELEBRITY EQUINOX 2010 gewesen: Ich wäre heute im Captain's Club Zenith statt Select. Ich habe ja sowieso keine Ambitionen mehr noch Ambassador bei Norwegian zu werden.



Every morning and evening, Marina assigns us the table. Olena can already read my wishes with her eyes. You already know I use lactose-free milk and make my iced tea. Alex got cherries for me but also said directly that, unfortunately, they spoil so quickly at the moment that it will probably be the only time. If the three of them had been on board the CENTURY 2008 or CELEBRITY EQUINOX 2010: Today, I would be in the Captain's Club Zenith instead of Select. I no longer have any ambitions to become an Ambassador with Norwegian anyway.

We have to get a tender ticket and wait: group 5. But using land-based tender boats makes it very quick; if there weren't always those who would have been late to the meeting points on board for the ship excursions and are therefore always pushed in between would have to. One thing is perfect now: those who have forgotten their tickets do not have to return to the cabins; those from the excursion office have mobile mini printers and can always reprint them immediately.



Wir müssen ein Tenderticket holen und warten: Gruppe 5. Aber durch die Nutzung von landseitigen Tenderbooten geht es sehr zügig, wenn da nicht immer diejenigen wären, die zu spät zu den Sammelpunkten an Bord für die Schiffsausflüge erschienen wären, und daher immer zwischendurch dazwischengeschoben werden müssten. Eines ist jetzt sehr gut: diejenigen die ihre Tickets vergessen haben, müssen nicht zurück auf die Kabinen: die vom Ausflugsbüro haben mobile Mini-Drucker dabei und können immer sofort das nachdrucken.

Natürlich müssen wir hier Aufnahmen von MEINER CELEBRITY REFLECTION machen.

Nils ist mein Arbeitskollege aus Bremen und den wir zuletzt auf der NORWEGIAN JADE 2019 getroffen haben. Er hat mir auch aus der Patsche geholfen, als ausgerechnet am Jahrestag des Todes meines Vaters unsere Kabinenstewardess Neruda von der MSC MAGNIFICA 2021 in Hamburg war. Er und sein Freund Jürgen haben sie dann in Hamburg stellvertretend für mich ausgeführt. Von ihm habe ich einen Tipp für einen privaten Reiseführer bekommen. Leider hat er jedoch im Rahmen von Covid-19 seine Aktivitäten beendet und verweist mich auf eine Kollegin: Mladen von Kotour Travel Agency. Wir hatten eigentlich eine E-Klasse bestellt und hatten ja vorab höflich angefragt, ob wir ggfls. ein Crew-Mitglied mitbringen dürften. Daraufhin bekommen wir einen Van zum selben Preis, aber leider durfte sie um diese Zeit nicht mit von Bord. Erst später fällt ja die Entscheidung, dass die Inzidenz an Bord innerhalb der Crew wieder so weit unten ist, dass die Crew unabhängig von Bord darf. Da waren wir aber schon weg. Schnell haben wir unseren Führer Miroslav gefunden. Da hatten wir richtig Glück: er ist sonst Bibliothekar und freut sich, über unsere Fragen, speziell nach der Situation als es noch Teil Jugoslawiens war und später wie es war, als Jugoslawien zerfallen ist. Zufällig treffen wir auf einen Mitreisenden, den wir zuvor auf dem Tenderboot bemerkt haben. Er zeigte uns ganz stolz, dass er extra für die Reise Jugoslawische Dinar gewechselt hätte. Miroslav erklärt ihm, dass er sie nur noch bei der Serbischen Zentralbank umtauschen kann. Man sollte sich vielleicht vor einer Reise nach Montenegro erkundigen, dass es Jugoslawien nicht mehr gibt und die Währung hier der Euro ist.



Nils is my work colleague from Bremen, Germany, and we last met at the NORWEGIAN JADE 2019. He also got me out of trouble when our cabin stewardess Neruda from the MSC MAGNIFICA 2021 was in Hamburg on my father's death anniversary. He and his friend Jürgen then performed it on my behalf in Hamburg. He gave me a tip for a private guide. Unfortunately, however, due to Covid-19, he has ceased his activities and referred me to a colleague: Mladen, from Kotour Travel Agency. We had actually ordered an E-Class and had politely asked in advance whether we could be allowed to bring a crew member. We then got a van for the same price, but unfortunately, she wasn't allowed on board at this time. It is only later that the decision is made that the incidence on board within the crew is so low that the staff can disembark independently. But by then, we were already gone. We quickly found our guide Miroslav. We were lucky: he is usually a librarian and is happy about our questions, especially about the situation when it was still part of Yugoslavia and later how it was when Yugoslavia disintegrated. By chance, we met a fellow traveler that we had previously noticed on the tender boat. He proudly showed us that he had exchanged Yugoslav dinars, especially for the trip. Miroslav explains that he can only exchange them at the Serbian Central Bank. One should perhaps inquire before traveling to Montenegro that Yugoslavia no longer exists and the currency here is the Euro.









We drive to Perast to cross over to Gospa od Škrpjela: two artificial islands. Later we would have time to look around ourselves. But it's simply too hot for that. We are looking for a place to cool off: a shady spot and a cold drink. The prices here are "more normal" than in Dubrovnik, Croatia, before.



Wir fahren in den Ort Perast, um hier nach Gospa od Škrpjela überzusetzen: Zwei künstliche Inseln. Später hätten wir eigentlich Zeit uns selbst umzusehen. Aber dafür ist es schlicht und einfach viel zu heiß. Wir suchen Abkühlung: ein schattiges Plätzchen und ein kaltes Getränk. Hier sind die Preise doch "normaler" als in Dubrovnik zuvor.

Eine der Inseln gilt als "verbotene"/"verfluchte" Insel und auf der anderen steht ein katholischer Tempel, den wir besuchen. Innen befindet sich auch ein kleines Museum. Miroslav gibt uns fachkundige Erläuterungen zu den Exponaten.



One of the islands is considered a "forbidden"/"cursed" island; on the other; there is a Catholic temple that we visit. There is also a small museum inside, and Miroslav gives us expert explanations of the exhibits.

We're supposed to rely on our driver Damir when we go into the mountains now: his qualification in Montenegro: his reverse driving skills. They explain to us that everything else will take care of itself. What should we do if a bus is coming toward us? Reverse and dodge. And he could do that in his sleep. Well, it can't be worse than on the Furka Pass, Switzerland, which I drove on our trip on VISTA SKY 2020 and which James Bond 007 also drove on in "Goldfinger". And no: "Casino Royal" only played fictitious in Montenegro. And it will hardly be worse at the Mojola Pass near St. Moritz, Switzerland. However, I was on the verge of a heart attack: in the Postbus - because I always thought the bus would tip over into the steep slope with every bend!



Wir sollen uns auf unseren Fahrer Damir verlassen, wenn wir jetzt in die Berge fahren: seine Qualifikation in Montenegro: seine Fahrkünste in Rückwärtsfahren. Sie erklären uns: alles andere ergibt sich von selbst. Was soll man machen, wenn ein Bus uns entgegenkommt? Rückwärtsfahren und ausweichen. Und das könnte er auf jeden Fall im Schlaf. Nun gut: schlimmer als auf dem Furka-Pass den ich auf unserer Reise nach der VISTA SKY 2020 befahren und der auch schon von James Bond 007 in "Goldfinger" befahren wurde kann es nicht sein. Und nein: "Casino Royal" spielte nur fiktiv in Montenegro. Und schlimmer am Mojola-Pass in der Nähe von St. Moritz wird es kaum sein. Da war ich allerdings kurz vor einem Herzinfarkt: im Postauto - weil ich immer dachte, dass mit jeder Kurve der Bus in den Steilhang runterkippt!

Wir halten zum ersten Mal um über die Bucht von Kotor zu schauen. Diese Tour ist nach unserem Geschmack.

Wir fahren bis nach Njeguši. Hier befindet sich das Gasthaus Kod Pera na Bukovicu. Das Gasthaus besteht seit 1881 und sie machen hier ihren eigenen Schinken und Käse, den wir hier als Mittagessen bekommen. Den müssen wir natürlich für zu Hause mitnehmen.



We drive to Njeguši. The inn Kod Pera na Bukovicu is located here. The inn has been around since 1881, and they make ham and cheese here, which we get here for lunch. Of course, we have to take it home with us.

Fortunately, we have a private tour, so we ask for an additional stop when we discover a restaurant that probably has a great viewing platform. We are only allowed to enter them with consumption. But that's what sales are worth to us.



Da wir zum Glück einen private Tour haben, bitten wir um einen zusätzlichen Stopp als wir ein Lokal entdecken, das wohl über eine tolle Aussichtsplattform verfügt. Wir dürfen sie nur mit Verzehr betreten. Aber das ist uns der Umsatz Wert.

Zurück an Bord brauche ich erst mal ein Eclair im Café al Bacio.

We enjoy the trip back out of Kotor onto the open sea. So we miss the show, or not. The planned show didn't take place because the "main performer" didn't make it on board: a cello.



Wir genießen die Ausfahrt wieder raus aus Kotor auf die offene See. So verpassen wir die Show, oder auch nicht. Die geplante Show fand nicht statt, weil der "Hauptdarsteller" es nicht bis an Bord geschafft hat: ein Cello.

Wir hatten vorab schon "Le Petit Chef" im Qsine gebucht. Was wir nicht wussten: es gibt drei Themenabende und ich freue mich, dass wir den Lobster-Abend erwischt hatten. Bruno nimmt das Alternativangebot auf der Rückseite, weil er Schalentiere in der Menge nicht mehr so verträgt. Insgesamt gibt es drei verschiedene Themen. Tuncay hat uns im Vorfeld beraten und bedient uns heute Abend und er hat uns auch die Plätze beim Chef's Table besorgt. Das Essen ist sehr gut. Die Show ist ganz nett, aber nur etwa 10-15 Minuten des ganzen Abends sind animiert. Der Rest ist Standbild. Daher bin ich doch etwas enttäuscht, dass nicht mehr während des Essens noch etwas gezeigt wurde. Daher weiss ich noch nicht, ob ich es für den Preis hassen oder lieben soll. Mitgemacht haben, sollte man es einmal. Sehr sympatisch: Le Petit Chef killed den Brokkoli. Übrigens 5 Gänge in Frankfurt kosten 159 EUR (2022).



We had previously booked "Le Petit Chef" at Qsine. We didn't know there were three theme nights, and I'm glad we caught the lobster night. Bruno accepts the alternative offer on the back because he no longer tolerates shellfish in crowds. There are three different themes in total. Tuncay advised us beforehand and is serving us tonight, and he also got us the seats at the chef's table. The food is delicious. The show is quite nice but only about 10-15 minutes of the evening is animated. The rest is still. So I'm slightly disappointed they didn't show something during the meal. So I'm not sure if I should hate it or love it for the price. You should have participated once. Very likable: Le Petit Chef killed the broccoli. By the way 5 courses in Toronto, ON are 130 CAD plus Tax and Gratuities (2022).
