Seetag/Day at Sea 2 auf der/on CELEBRITY REFLECTION

Das Schiff ist sehr schön und überall fühlt man sich wohl. Es gibt Ecken, da braucht man einen Hoodie, weil es doch etwas kühler ist. Nur die Shops haben nichts für uns: nur ein paar Riesen-Klammern.



The ship is lovely, and you feel comfortable everywhere. There are corners where you need a hoodie because it's a bit cooler. Only the shops have nothing for us: just a few giant clips.

It was so muggy and warm outside: everything fogged up immediately: glasses, camera, and much too warm. I have to return directly.



Draußen war es so schwül warm: alles sofort beschlagen: Brille, Kamera und viel zu warm. Ich muss sofort wieder rein.

Da wir Zeitumstellung auf Osteuropäische Zeit hatten, sind schon viele hier und so wird das Büffet kurzerhand früher geöffnet, als veröffentlicht. Es gibt sehr schöne Sachen. Ich nehme eine kleine Portion Congee.



Since we had the time change to Eastern European Time, many are already here, so the buffet is opened earlier than published. There are lovely things. I take a small portion of the congee.

Die Sonne geht auf. Aber es ist kein richtig schöner Sonnenaufgang. Nicht direkt am Horizont, sondern ein wenig höher über den Wolken am Horizont. Das ist eben die Luftfeuchtigkeit.





Unser "Lebensmittelpunkt" ist ja das Café al Bacio. Hier bekomme ich meine geeiste Getränke (Tee, Shakerato, Frappé). Nur die Sahne taugt nichts: sie fällt immer sofort zusammen. Im Laufe des Nachmittags treffe ich mich kurz mit King Jamsheed und wir sprechen damals über seine Zeit auf der RYNDAM 2013. Vormittags sind immer Kellner im Café al Bacio. Wir begegnen Miroslav - aus Russland. Ich denke mir nichts ungewöhnliches bei und bedanke mich mit "Спасибо" (Spasibo - Danke)! Ich lese ja immer die Namen und Länder auf den Namensschilder. Und für mich normal, dass ich mich so bedanke. Er freut sich besonders darüber, weil derzeit natürlich auch er Resentiments gegenüber Russen erlebt. Er selbst hat Russland bereits verlassen, als der militärische Konflikt begann. Als ich ihm erkläre, dass Putin ein Russe ist, aber man nicht daraus schließen kann, dass jeder Russe ein Putin ist, freut er sich sehr darüber, dass wir ihn sehr "normal" wie einen Menschen behandeln. Aufgrund meiner Captain's Club Mitgliedschaft bekomme ich eine Kugel gratis.



Our "center of life" is the Café al Bacio. Here I get my iced drinks (tea, shakerato, frappé). Only the cream is useless: it always collapses immediately. In the afternoon, I meet King Jamsheed briefly, and we talk about his time on RYNDAM 2013. In the mornings, there are always male waiters in Café al Bacio. We meet Miroslav - from Russia. I don't think anything unusual, and thank you with "Спасибо" (Spasibo - thank you)! I always read the names and countries on the name tags. And it's normal for me to say thank you like that. He is particularly pleased about this because, at the moment, he also feels resentment towards the Russians. He left Russia when the military conflict began. When I explain to him that Putin is a Russian, but one cannot conclude from this that every Russian is a Putin, he is delighted that we treat him "normally" like a human being. Because of my Captain's Club membership, I get a scope for free.

CENTURY 2008: we come to the main dining room, and they don't feel like bringing us breakfast. The staff pointed out to us that there was also a self-service restaurant. CELEBRITY EQUINOX 2010: We don't get a table for two at the beginning of the cruise, but are continually added, which we don't want. CELEBRITY REFLECTION 2022: We are welcomed and, if possible, given a lovely table for two by the window. Gratia, in particular, catches our eye in the morning: if it weren't so sunny outside every morning, she would bring the sunshine into the dining room. We are constantly presented with this tray of breakfast pastries. Then comes the "unlucky person" to which we always say "no": the tray with apple and orange juice. Coffee comes pretty quickly too. I also get everything upstairs, but it's not on the menu here: they go for it upstairs. We experience excellent service. Although there is a waiter who takes the order and makes sure that everything comes and he also serves himself, the crucial question comes: "Is there anything else I can get you?". If you say "no", he moves on and starts to take over the service in another area. I can brew my iced tea. I get orange segments that are not on the menu. That's how I get congee too. But unfortunately, not from the crew galley like on ISLAND PRINCESS 2013 and, unfortunately, without chicken. But there are still nine other ways to do it until it fits 120%.



CENTURY 2008: wir kommen ins Hauptrestaurant und sie haben irgendwie keine Lust uns Frühstück zu bringen. Sie weisen uns darauf hin, dass es auch ein SB-Restaurant gibt. CELEBRITY EQUINOX 2010: Wir bekommen anfangs keinen Tisch für zwei, sondern werden immer dazugesetzt, was wir nicht wollen. CELEBRITY REFLECTION 2022: Wir werden willkommen geheißen und bekommen nach Möglichkeit einen schönen Tisch für zwei am Fenster. Besonders Gratia fällt uns morgens auf: Wenn es nicht draußen jeden Morgen so sonnig wäre, sie würde den Sonnenschein in den Speisesaal bringen. Uns wird immer dieses Tablett mit Frühstücksgebäck präsentiert. Dann kommt immer der "Pechvogel", bei dem wir immer "nein" sagen: Das Tablett mit Apfel- und Orangensaft. Kaffee kommt auch recht schnell. Ich bekomme auch alles, was es oben gibt, aber hier unten nicht auf der Karte steht: sie gehen es einfach oben holen. Wir erleben einen tollen Service. Es gibt zwar einen Kellner, der die Bestellung aufnimmt und auch selbst dafür sorgt, dass alles kommt und er serviert auch selbst, aber dann kommt die entscheidende Frage: "Gibt es sonst noch etwas, was ich Ihnen bringen kann?". Wenn man "nein" sagt, dann zieht er weiter und beginnt in einem anderen Bereich den Service zu übernehmen. Ich kann meinen eigenen Eistee brühen. Ich bekomme Orangensegmente, die nicht auf der Speisekarte stehen. So bekomme ich auch Congee. Aber leider nicht aus der Crew Galley wie auf der ISLAND PRINCESS 2013 und leider auch ohne Hühnchen. Aber es gibt ja noch neun weitere Möglichkeiten das noch so zu machen, bis dass es 120%ig passt.

Wir fahren am Stromboli vorbei. Zuletzt waren wir hier MSC SEASIDE 2021 und haben ihn sehr nahe erlebt. Aber jetzt ist es einfach zu heiß und zu schwül um lange am Heckbalkon zu verbringen.

Wir haben einen ganz tollen Kabinensteward: Raymondo. Nach VALIANT LADY 2022 macht es wieder Spaß in die Kabine zurückzukommen: zwei Mal Service. Schokolade an den schicken Abenden. Die Nachfrage, ob alles in Ordnung ist, nutze ich für die Nachfrage nach dem cruisecritic.com Meet and Mingle. Davon weiß keiner etwas an Bord. Wir haben zwei Möglichkeiten (Vorder- und Rückseite) kundzutun, dass wir nicht gestört werden wollen, aber nicht dass er jetzt gerne kommen darf, wenn wir unterwegs sind. Da an Bord keine Tests vorgeschrieben sind, machen wir immer zwischendurch welche.



We have a great cabin steward: Raymondo. After VALIANT LADY 2022, it's fun to return to the changing room: twice a service. Chocolate on the chic evenings. Sehr schnell bekomme ich einen Rückruf: man hat leider keine Informationen landseitig erhalten, dass der Wunsch für ein Meet and Mingle besteht. Allerdings wäre man verwundert, dass eine Registrierung möglich sei. Man würde aber nachfassen.

Wir passieren die Straße von Messina. Wir halten auf der Rückreise in Messina selbst. Die letzte Passage haben wir damals auf der MSC SEASIDE 2021 gemacht und da haben wir ja stattdessen in Syrakus gehalten. Messina waren wir selbst schon zwei Mal: NORWEGIAN JADE 2011 (2) und MSC MERAVIGLIA 2017.

Lunch is also served in the main restaurant on sea days. Unfortunately, due to the low occupancy, not one of the specialty restaurants, which usually have a cheaper offer at lunchtime, is open.



An Seetagen wird auch Mittagessen im Hauptrestaurant angeboten. Leider hat aufgrund der niedrigen Belegung kein einziges der Zuzahlrestaurants geöffnet, die sonst auch mittags ein günstigeres Angebot haben.

Irgendwie fehlt noch etwas nachmittags, so nutze ich mal den Bestellservice in der Kabine. Das klappt leider nicht, so muss ich nochmals anrufen. Salz und Pfeffer fehlt, damit man nachwürzen kann.



Somehow something is still missing in the afternoon, so I use the ordering service in the cabin. Unfortunately, that doesn't work, so I have to call again. There is no salt or pepper for seasoning.







Auf zum ersten Dinner im Hauptrestaurant. Wir haben flexible Tischzeit, aber man wird einem Servicebereich zugeteilt. Man möchte damit erreichen, dass man ein Team hat, das sich um einen kümmert und man nicht jeden Tag neu erklären muss, dass welche Allergien und Getränkewünsche man hat. Dadurch dass wir alle Tische vorabgebucht haben, ist i.d.R. immer sofort ein Tisch für uns verfügbar. Man kann aber auch die Bindung an einen Servicebereich aufheben und ganz flexibel platziert werden. Wir erleben den netten Service von Celebrity mit den Saucen, die immer separat serviert werden. Bruno spielt mit den Namensschildern herum und bekommt sie nicht wieder gerade rein. Obwohl auf dem Namensschild Tainara als Hilfskellnerin steht, bedient uns heute Diego. Ich mache ein Selfie mit Bruno. Er versorgt uns tagsüber im Café Al Bacio und abends hier im Hauptrestaurant mit Getränken von der Bar: ich bekomme meinen Clamato-Juice. Im Laufe des Tages bin ich auch Chefkoch Shyam Jeetun begegnet.



Off to the first dinner in the main restaurant. We have flexible dining times, but you will be assigned to a service area. You want to achieve that you have a team that takes care of you, and you don't have to explain daily your allergies and drink requests. Because we have booked all tables in advance, a table is usually available for us immediately. But you can also remove the link to a service area and be placed very flexibly. We experience Celebrity's excellent service with the sauces always served separately. Bruno is playing with the name tags and can't get them straight back in. Although the name tag says Tainara as the assistant waitress, Diego is serving us today. I take a selfie with Bruno. He provides us with drinks from the bar in the Café Al Bacio during the day and here in the main restaurant in the evening: I get my Clamato juice. During the day, I also met Chef Shyam Jeetun.

We look past the Martini Bar. Today the meeting of the "Friends of Dorothy" (I'm old-fashioned!) was supposed to take place here. But we don't see any male groups, so we move on to the Ensemble Lounge. Here I have another non-alcoholic mojito.



Wir gucken an der Martini Bar vorbei. Heute sollte hier das Treffen der "Friends of Dorothy" (ich bin altmodisch!) stattfinden. Aber wir sehen keine Männergruppen, so dass wir in die Ensemble Lounge weitergehen. Hier nehme ich noch einen alkoholfreien Mojito zu mir.





"Alles klar?!" - wenn man von einem Offizier mit vier Streifen so begrüßt wird, ist man erst mal erschrocken. Ich bin einen Schritt zürückgetreten: nur hinter mir war Bruno mit einem Drink in der Hand. Ich war aber nicht darauf vorbereitet, dass Kapitän Nikolas Chistodoulakis wusste, wer ich war. Ich hatte ja nur meinen Douglas Ward an sein Büro geschickt und es kam mit einem sehr netten Gruß zurück. Und er wusste, wer ich bin. Hängt ein Bild von mir auf der I-95? Vor der Show werden die Senioroffiziere vorgestellt. Das tat wirklich gut, dass wieder solche Veranstaltungen stattfinden. Es gab aber nichts zu trinken! Viele der Offiziere lerne ich im Laufe der Reise auch persönlich kennen. Sie sind sehr sichtbar. Und man merkt, dass hier ein anderes Bild herrscht. Oft erleben wir, dass die Senioroffiziere einfach selbst Hand anlegen, statt nur delegieren und zugucken, wenn etwas nicht richtig läuft. Beispiel: als wir später melden, dass etwas mit dem Kaffee nicht stimmt: Die Supervisor suchen sofort selbst nach dem Fehler.



"Alles klar?!" (Everything clear?!) - when you are greeted like that by an officer with four stripes, you are shocked at first. I took a step back: only behind me was Bruno with a drink in hand. But I wasn't prepared for Captain Nikolas Chistodoulakis to know who I was. I just sent my Douglas Ward to his office and he came back with a very nice greeting. And he knew who I am. Is there a picture of me on I-95? Before the show, the senior officers are introduced. It was really good that such events were taking place again. But there was nothing to drink! I also get to know many of the officers personally over the course of the trip. They are very visible. And you can see that there is a different picture here. We often experience that the senior officers simply lend a hand instead of just delegating and watching when something doesn't go right. Example: when we report later that something is wrong with the coffee: the supervisors immediately look for the error themselves.

After that, the show begins with Lindsay Hamilton. The cast should have shown the first production show. A few days later, we learned that the cast couldn't rehearse as planned, and everything had to be rescheduled. I like the show a lot. The homage to the songs of the James Bond 007 films is charming.



Danach beginnt die Show mit Lindsay Hamilton. Eigentlich hätte die ersten Production Show gezeigt werden sollen. Einige Tage später erfahren wir, dass die Cast nicht so proben konnte, wie geplant und daher alles umgeplant werden musste. Die Show gefällt mir gut. Sehr schön ist die Hommage an die Songs der James-Bond-007-Filme.

Auf dem Weg zur Kabine kommen wir noch bei der Silent Disco vorbei. Die drei Farben der Kopfhörer stellen die unterschiedlichen Musikkanäle dar. Jeder tanzt nach der Musik im Kopfhörer und hat seinen Spaß. Ich bin einfach zu müde. Long Covid.
